we are now the only bottom 4 side to not change coach in last 12 months
The only strategy that manly put in place was the most important one of all - having a top coach (hasler). He turned them around and kept them up the top all along since then.
Our club on the other hand has chosen the most pathetic coaches possible in the last 6 years and hence why we have been a joke for most of those last 6 or 7 years.

Rubbish. At that time Hasler was an unknown quantity as a coach, they gave him a chance and he proved himself.
Also Manly up until the middle of last year obviously didn't rate him that highly, they effectively let the Dogs steal him.

Come on Fred let's not rewrite history.
i never said that he was a supercoach from day 1.
but they sacked their underperforming coach and tried someone else.
that is my point.
and he improved them year after year after year.
but there are many on here that want to stick with a loser like smith when its painfully obviously that we are going backwards the longer he is with us

Your point didn't seem clear. When they appointed Hasler it was unknown if he was a good coach, they took a chance. Would you mind if we took a punt on a young coach?
Also on Manly they obviously didn't rate Hasler he wasn't locked up long term which allowed the Dogs to swoop.
Read mine and other fans comments, I would say most are saying Smith should be gone. We just aren't blinded by hatred and think he is the only problem.

i prefer a top line coach like bellamy or hasler or bennett.
if that is not possible for whatever reason, then i dont mind a young new coach like trent robinson or someone like that. beats having someone who is meant to be good (like smith) but turns out to be a flop. plus its cheaper. it worked well for the rabbits now as well.

i like smith.
Jason Taylor? If we go with a young coach it will be a risk. Remember that guy that coached Parra he was suppose to be the a gun young coach.
I agree and most do we need a change. Also I didn't know you liked Smith. What about his son?
Stsae I believe the whole crux, 'the' absolute key to the heart of our problems for the past 7-8 years has been the coaching set up!! That is the true repeating of the mistakes of the past!!
You say that on the player changes alone we can move into the 8, that to me is not raising the bar high enough!! You need to enter into each and every season with a belief that you can win the premiership! Premierships is what it is all about, only weak unsuccessful teams think "I hope we can sneak into the 8", and we most certainly do not want to be one of those teams!!!!!!
Sticking with Smiffy and Son we are just settling for second best, and imo it is not even that, it is more like 14th best!! We as a club have to stop with this mind set of 'settling' and be ruthless like the successful teams in the comp are!!
You do realize that with Smiffy and Son coaching us next year we have 0% chance of going all the way??? Why is Nick and certain supporters on here happy enough to enter into a season with the knowledge that we have no chance of winning the comp??? I have to admit mate that it has me completely mystified, and frustrates the life out of me!!! I have said before, we are fast turning into the 1990-2011 version of $ouff$, and it is scaring the shit out of me!!!
When you talk about Smiffy's strength of bringing youth through at a club, you are right, but the problem is that was 10 years ago!!! He clearly has lost this ability with the new generation of footballers and there is clear evidence of this in his results!! Can't you see how poorly the majority of our players have been performing the past two years??? Smiffy's honeymoon period of 2010 is well and truly done and dusted!!! For the best interests of the club he and his son have to go at the end of this season!!!
I must say mate that I most definitely share your enthusiasm with the count down too Bwaiff's departure!!! Oh yeah, 2 friggin weeks baby!!!!!!!!!!!
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!
Have always stated that the Roosters should honour Smiths contract & that Smith should honour his Roosters contract.
Smith for the last 2 seasons even with things beyond his control (that happens to all coaches) IMO has not honoured his side of the contract because I believe he doesn't have enough drive, passion & winning at all costs attitude needed to be a successful FG coach in 2012. So for that reason I feel the Roosters have the right to move him on. Now if they did move him on I can only see Jason Taylor being given the job for 2013 purly because there is no one else.
In saying all that there is a part of me which would like to see Smith at the helm next year, coaching without Anasta in the team & having Maloney SBW & Oldfield on board. In my eyes he will definately be the coach in 2013.

TRO in a ideal world I wouldn't have Smith as the coach but I have thought that if you sign someone up for 4 years as your coach & you introduce a youth policy that everyone should have faith in the 4 year plan even if it is not looking good after 3 years.
It's a gamble by the club to go up the path of a youth policy & to stick with Smith but you have to commend the board for staying loyal to Smith & not buckling because the supporters are not happy. I dont know who said it but a famous coach once said 'you dont coach the team to keep the fans happy".
Des wasnt instanly successful & either was Cleary over in NZ they were both given at least 4 years before they were judged & after about that time they got results.
But if it was up to me I would talk Smith into handing the reins over to Taylor & getting Smith to take on a consultancy role.
