  • Warren Ryan on Anasta

    went something like this

"Thirsty" Morrow says "Won't the fans go beserk if Anasta scores a try today in his last home game for the club"

The Wok replies "I don't know about that, he's never done anything for them before. A very non-involved footballer, if ever there was one. If there's an option to pass to anyone, instead of running, he'll pass for sure. I don't know what he's going to offer the Tigers." Later on he went on to say that he had no idea how Anasta had lasted this long at the Roosters.

I don't think I've heard a commentator bag a player like that since The Wok got stuck into Finch after the 2004 grand final, including describing his game as "appalling"

There's always one....one media commentatir that gets it right. Wok is that one.

I remember the Wok and his comments re Justin Holbrook.

I was quite disgusted that night, he was far to personal in his assessment, however he gets the occasional pasting correct.

It's the truth, maybe a little harsh but the truth.

I wish more commentators opened up and said more than the usual back slapping and cliches we hear on all footy shows.

Nobody seems to rate him except for Gargoil Gould. "The ball bounces for Braith Anasta!"

I can remember back when Fatty first started commentating he was threatened by a player with defamation action (I think it was Fatty). I think it was a Souths player. I think it was that blonde Kiwi winger that kicked goals and did not do much else. Crosson I think his name was. The commentator (once again I think it was Fatty but may be wrong) called him the worst winger he had ever seen or something along those lines and the week after that legal action was threatened by the player and manager against the commentator (and obviously whoever the broadcaster was - Ch 9 I think). Ever since then commentators have not been anywhere near as personal in their criticism, so the Woks comments surprise me. Although he is 100% correct.

That's funny because I watched the 2004 grand final on Saturday night and Fatty kept praising Finchy saying he knew what he was doing...

The Wok has been pretty irrelevant for a long time now. Im pretty sure he just turns up and does voluntary work in the media...surely they wouldnt pay him.

                            Braith wouldnt be too concerned.

As Julia implied last week, consider the source.
