The commentator (once again I think it was Fatty but may be wrong) called him the worst winger he had ever seen or something along those lines and the week after that legal action was threatened by the player and manager against the commentator (and obviously whoever the broadcaster was - Ch 9 I think). Ever since then commentators have not been anywhere near as personal in their criticism, so the Woks comments surprise me. Although he is 100% correct.
Yeah commentators and ex-players in particular may like hearing the sound of their own voices, but I think legally unless something very derogatory is being said, e.g racial, then legally there is not much that a player can do.Everyone is free to express their own opinion about someone or their gameplay.

Yes, that's what I presumed. I should start putting smileys on here, but I would consider me doing that gauche.

Warren Ryan is a prick. When me and my mate asked him for his autograph as 8 or 9 year olds back in the 80's, he told us to piss off. What kind of person would do that?

But he's bang-on about Anasta, as it goes.

              Comedy classic.

As a personality, I don't mind the Wok.

Having done it (he drinks at my local) remind him of the 16-0 halftime scoreline of the 2000 Semi final. He loses his shit.

He's hated the Roosters since that happen.

That said, he's had a pretty piss poor run emotionally lately so maybe live and let live.

I remember years ago his wife brought domestic violence related charges against him. Shortly after that she dropped the proceedings and claimed all that had happened was that she'd fallen over in the shower.

But anything else aside, he's always been a very astute when it comes to league, and come sup with some good ideas when it comes to improving the rules.

He made an interesting suggestion earlier this season around gang tackles and wrestling. If there are, say, 4 players involved in making a tackle, those 4 players cannot run back into the defensive line as the play the ball is about to happen. They must instead effectively all line up as markers. one behind the other. Would likely encourage some expansive play by the team with the ball on that next play

The refs & video clowns can't even get the current stuff right.
Imagine them having to count up to four as well?

That'd work if the refs could competently count to 4. Some would undoubtedly interpret the 3 as a 5 and get confused.

                            Chook.

I could see the bloody refs penalising our mob for one of our blokes not standing directly behind the other, like they do in a rugby line out! No thanks. Just another excuse to nitpick and penalise some teams and not others.

I know what you mean with the refs, but it wouldn't really involve counting. Anyone who's involved in the tackle becomes a marker - fairly easy to see if any of those involved in the tackle run off back to the defensive line. Might need some tweaking, but it's the best answer to discouraging gang tackles and wrestling that I've heard.

With all of our dummy half running though, 3 or 4 markers would work against us. Which would force us to run the ball!
