Just because he was liked doesn't mean he was soft, it might just mean that they respected the way he went about his business and that he showed that he knew his onions. I don't care either way whether he gets the job or not but unless you have played under the guy its hard to back up some of your comments.
Bellamy, Hasler and co all had distinguished playing careers. The type of respect I am talking about comes from acheivement, either as a player or a coach. You are asking me how do I know he's not capable but the question is what makes you think he is capable. What has he achieved that could possibly make me think he is a more suitable candidate than any other name mentioned. Has anyone here played under Robinson? We are asking why his name should even be mentioned. Someone, anyone.

        • Old Nicholas is a bit tight with the purse strings these days it will be no surprise to see him secure the cheaper option Robbo had the job plum until this morning now a little spanner is in the works so which way will the wheel turn

Fair points. I suppose it all comes back to how highly you rate his work in the UK. He has done something right taking a spare parts team and turning them into a highly competitive out fit. I would also throw Michael Maguire's name at you. Where was his distinguished playing career or list of achievements before taking control of Souths and delivering them their best year since 1989? How did he demand instant respect?

At the end of the day I have no doubt there are candidates out there who are more highly credentialled, but I wouldn't write him off or 'cringe' if he was named as coach because I think half the battle as a coach is having the players want to play for you, and from reports, the players loved Robinson and bought into what he was teaching them.

Anasta agrees to forego Tigers contract and coach the Sydney Roosters from 2013 onwards on a 6 year deal.

                • It's a shame he didn't take the coaching director job - that's the sort of role that suits him.

                    • There's chatter that a couple of players are also packing their bags tonight. Any of the insiders on here have more information?
