Lets not dress mutton up as lamb, yes he is a good young coach but he is young and very new to the pace of the NRL. Let's not compare him to Maguire, because Maguire paid his dues in the NRL as assistant to Bellamy for several years and than made his name in Super league by winning two titles. I think the club was in a postion to make a big statement and sign a proven quality coach and hit the ground running in 2013 but this could be a longer road to success.

Whilst Robinson may have the respect of the players does he have the coaching nouse and experience to fix all of our wrongs. The defence, the penalties, the lack of options in attack. I suppose Anasta being gone and Smithys let the ball sing idea of attack will be gone but i am a little concerned about how this guy will put his mark on our club. Can anyone let us know more about him??

Does this mean that the entire Smith circus is gone - Rohan, Elliott etc. Surely this means Taylor is gone as well. Any news on Fitzy??
For the record Fred told me in May that Smith would be gone at the end of the year and his replacement would be Trent Robinson. He told me something else that isn't due to happen just yet. That's 2 from 3 for Fred so far.
I think we know what the other thing is.
# 3. SBW to sign with the Roosters??

Coach Confirmed Trent Robinson
Not Taylor or Bellamy, Trent Robinson to coach the Roosters for the next three years
Confirmed: Media Statement
The Sydney Roosters have today appointed former Sydney Roosters player Trent Robinson as Head Coach.
Robinson has agreed to a three-year contract and will join the Roosters from Super Leagues The Catalans Dragons where he has held the position of head coach since 2011. In his first season with the club, he took the side from last to sixth and was named Super League Coach of the Year, and this year, the team is currently well-placed to go all the way.
Roosters Chairman Nick Politis was enthusiastic about the appointment.
We are extremely pleased that Trent will be joining the Roosters after agreeing to terms for the next three years. We believe that he is the ideal candidate to take the Roosters forward with regard to what we aim to achieve in terms of success, said Mr Politis.
Trent was a key contributor to the Roosters success in 2010 and while he is still a relatively young coach, he already has pedigree and experience gained over his time as an assistant coach in the NRL and head coach in the Super League.
We wish Trent well with the Catalans Dragons finals campaign and look forward to welcoming him back to the Sydney Roosters ahead of the commencement of the clubs 2013 pre-season, he added.
A player in the Roosters junior ranks from 1995-1998, Robinsons coaching career commenced with Frances Toulouse Olympique in 2005. He was assistant coach with the Newcastle Knights from 2007-2009 before joining the Roosters in 2010 as the assistant coach in charge of defence.

Coach of what? The under 20s??
No happy with this choice. History shows that results in the English league do not equate to results in the NRL.
We won't be able to attract new players with him either.
To hear that the players will be happy is not what I want to hear. Does this mean that if they are not happy they will not perform? They are meant to be professional footballers.
I think Robinson is too young. He's the new Steve Price.
In saying all this, I hope I am very very wrong!
And of course....best of luck to the guy.

I've never heard of half the players in the Dogs' team.
Trent Robinson...SuperLeague coach of the year last year.
What's not to like about that for 'big name players' looking for a new home?
Extreme let down?
Just rang mrs BB at work and gave her the news...she let out an excited cheer, which attracted the attention of the whole office.Last edited by bondi-boy; 09-07-2012, 01:53 PM.
