He could lose the team & a lot of fans very quickly if he was to punt Mini.
Putting him on the wing seems to be the politically correct decision here... unfortunately for Trent this was one of the few hard decisions Smith didn't end up getting to in his 3 year reign.

Cleary has angered a lot out Pemriff way, but when a club is flatlining (as we are) tough decisions need to be made.

Bennett punted Wally Lewis & all the Broncos fans wanted his head, if it wasn't for the board showing massive faith in him who knows what he'd be doing now. Will Robinson get the same display of faith from a board that time and time again has shown how ruthless it can be?
It's going to be a massive test of character and probably the hardest decision he'll ever make at the Roosters despite how easy all of us on the forum seem to think it should be.

The number one priority for our team, that should always come first is, what is in the best interests of the club to be successful on the field. In this situation it is Mini no longer being in the side. Putting Mini on the wing is a soft cop out solution and will also hinder the side. I believe the players would understand this, and they aren't completely dumb, they would realize that Mini is past it and must get frustrated at some of the crap he does on the field.
When it comes to the fans, I think you get a good indication from on here that the majority of fans want him out of the side. Maybe someone should run a poll on here. The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!
Here's looking at you, kid.

And this is a coach Politis has a lot of respect for. He can and does change his mind and no one, not even Nick, can argue that Mini is not past his use by date by a long long long long long long time. Whether it's by mutual agreement, a re-occurence of the back injury, a sudden lack of motivation, I do not believe Mini will be playing for us next year.
With Nick's decision to release Smith a year early I think he has recognised that even with SBW and Maloney coming in 2013, we have a limited window to win a comp. It'll be only 2 maybe 3 years before we start to lose some of our young guns and have to replace them and so we cannot waste one of those years carrying Uselesschello. And that's why I think he'll be gone before we kick off.

If that's the case that wouldn't necessarily mean the Roosters would lose a lot of fans. Yes he has been great and I have very fond memories of him but sometimes hard decisions have to be made for the betterment of the team.
