  • SBW Contract

A lot of people wondering when he is going to sign the contract. Well one reason he hasn't (and I'm not sure if this is true) but if he does I've heard his Japanese Rugby Money would be counted towards our cap which would obviously put us over.

But a bigger bright side to him not signing yet has to be the what if he gets injured scenario. Can you imagine if he had already signed the contract and got injured in Japanese Rugby? There is every possibility that we would still have to pay him for a full season where he might not play (Cherrington style, except a lot more money). So for everyone calling for him to hurry up and sign already I'm quite happy he hasn't yet as it's a great insurance policy in case he can't suit up.

If that's true then it's the first intelligent choice this club has made in years.

    No play, no pay.

What's the term the police use?

        He also has questionable antecedents.

He doesn't need one, he can do the deal himself

So you've heard (chinese whispers) foreign rugby money is included in the cap?

Salary cap rules prior to the 2012-13 upgrade also state....which contradict what you've heard

What about money paid from other people or companies?

The basic guide is that if a player is receiving money from any person as a way of inducing him to play for the club, then that money will be included in the Salary Cap.
Income that a player earns from parties not related to his club is generally not included in the Salary Cap, however, the details of the agreement must be advised to the club by the player.

SBW will NOT be at the club next year... take this as FACT..... there are senior people at the club changing their minds.... NOT Nick but others with clout. They feel that money would be better spent on other players.... watch this space

Popeye there are no other top line players available for 2013, it would be crazy to enter the season $800k under the salary cap, the fact that Robinson himself has been in contact with SBW is a pretty good indication its a done deal.

This deal has been in the works since 2010, if you think a few board members with cold feet are going to stop it happening you're deluded.

I too think the money could be better spent but it's gonna happen.

Was that from the same source that told you JT was going to coach whatsthematta after Kearney was sacked?
Are you still sure piggy is going to be coaching our 20's?
Nick wants SBW and no one has more clout at our club than him!
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

                    Here's looking at you, kid.

From what I've been told it's more the fact the NRL won't register a contract for a player still contracted to another sporting organization.

I'd gather the legal ramifications alone would be a minefield???

I'm sure Benji tried a similar off season cash grab that was stopped by the NRL a few seasons ago.

The only other high profile pickup would be Brad Fittler's kid. Admittedly he'd have more of a propensity to write a traffic fine than pass a football.

I think you've been hit in the head one too many times by Bluto, Pops.

The club would not have gone through the hype and, frankly, the bullshit surrounding Sonny not to have him come to the club.

You're a pretty piss poor troll if that's what you're trying for.

My understanding of the SBW deal is signing 1 year contracts from say Feb 1 till Oct 31st allows him to make money in the other months of the year doing other sports. Because he is not contracted to any club in the NRL during those month, the money he earns elsewhere is not included in the cap of the team he will play for.

It's a win win for SBW & for the club he plays for.
