he was a revelation at the dogs, a success wuth the all blecks, a half decent boxer and a supreme athlete, yet you dont want him because he realised the error of his ways and didnt want to commit to a 5 year deal with the bullwogs?

If he was such a 'revelation', then why was it an 'error'? You dont fix and error by making another.

he was a revelation at the dogs, play great. the dogs wanted to sign him up for life. and at the time (and im not sure if im correct) sbw was self-managed, so he thought it was the right idea. however other people told him 'you can play sport elsewhere and earn a lot more money' 'you dont need the bulldogs, theyre paying you peanuts compared to what you can get in france, nz' etc.
so he said 'screw this' and left.

Thanks for the newsflash. He had a contract but chose to snub that contract, his mates, his club and the entire game of rugby league for a few extra peanuts. He is still chasing peanuts on his terms only. Not what we need. Those who think he will be the saviour here and deliver a premiership are kidding themselves. Hows he gone in Jap rugby btw? Damn thats a tough comp... surely he should be untouchable there and guiding his side to a win ever time he runs out right?

Alot of those demands are media propaganda just like the quade cooper link.

If he is our most controversial signing then it may follow the success of our other two most controversial signings of carney and fittler.

havent watched the jap rugby to be honest, so wouldnt know how he goes.
youre entitled to your own opinion, and i respect that, and you provide a good argument as to why you think he shouldnt come. but im looking forward to what he can put on the table for us. hes only walked out on a club once, and i would walk out of the bulldogs as well, wouldnt you?

After the turmoil this year you would think that team spirit would be a high priority for the incoming coach. From all reports Robinson is a players coach so if he can unite the squad then SBW will be twice as valuable because I believe he is entering the stage in his career where he can think about more of a leasership role. It would be fantastic if he could do that job here for a few years.
The drawback with being a players coach however is that he can find it hard to cross that line and be firm where the situation calls for it. I heard a story last week where Robbie Deans was unable to drop players face to face and relied on others to break the news. Dropping a player can do serious damage to a players confidence so the coach has to be careful. He should always give an explanation and encouragement to the player being dropped. If the player gives up it's a waste of salary cap space. He's gotta wanna get back in the team. Wayne Bennett is the master at using the bench to motivate out of form players.

I would hardly call Carney a success. Its disrepectful to Fittler to put him in the same sentence. Freddy got us a premiership and minor premiership. Carney got us bad press and headaches.

and a golden year where we got through to the grand final, and had our club win only their second ever dally m medal.

Im not arguing with ya cobber. I do hope I am very very wrong. But my gripe is what happened before. As a league lover, that was unforgivable. He has a lot to make up for and from what I see, its STILL all about himself.

The Dally M is an individual prize and nothing to do with the club. We won nothing in the 2 season he was here. As I said before, he was bad press only.
