I know there was a small amount of eulogising for Brian Smith on here, but I must repeat some sympathies for Steve Noyce - I'm sure he is gutted at the moment.

I wholeheartedly believe he did his best during his tenure with Easts and I still regard him as one of the best CEOs in the business. A damn good bloke into the bargain.

When Smith and Noyce were signed by the club I was over the moon, thinking they were a perfect fit.

I sense the purge that has been going on in our ranks has provided a real lift for many of our fans...its a natural common reaction that, when times are tough, wield the axe...the taller the poppy the better...its cleansing, refreshing, populist....even if it times a bit non-sensical.

The thing that rancours most with me though is HOW Nick delivers these tough decisions...it is my understanding that both Smith and Noyce were well into future preparations for 2013 with the club to swiftly have the rug pulled from under their feet.

There just has to be a better way...Nick??

I wish Brian Canavan all the best, as did Steve Noyce in his typical humble and totally honourable style. I can't help but wonder though were some of the fans celebrating this change now, previously as keen to see Brian Canavan go when he did before?

hmmm....change...brings hope, excitement..and the comfort that we have learned from past mistakes and are now addressing them.

Well done Steve Noyce...you are way too good to be out of top level administration for too long..may your next gig bring the rewards you deserve.
    Cry us a river Sunshine!

Noyce failed at the job he was supposed to do. No personal love letters is gonna make up for his mistakes.

This is first grade National Rugby league, not a mini league competition. He was well paid for his farg ups as well. It's not like he volunteered.

A few dud men more like it.

Please, and I'm begging here, don't breed. If you have already, adopt your poor frigging kids out before you damage them irreparably.

Thanks BF...this lad is the Trolls troll.

But banning him would kill him...this is all he's got.

We all got abuse from trolls on these forums I guess...its the risk we take.

I cant understand how Politis still attracts criticism. If anything, those who were bagging him all year should come out and apologise. We were crap last year and all this year yet he persisted with Smith & Noyce (which is the honourable thing to do); the people he has installed as replacement are absolutely inspired decisions - a rookie coach who when coaching with us was outstanding and has since gone on to drag the catalans into the finals twice and secure coach of the year over there (Ricky Stuart anyone...); and a new CEO who loves the club, has done it here before and adds invaluable experience.

I have nothing against Noyce and Smith but they both deserved to go - the handling of a number of incidents over the past couple of years was tragic and as the leaders of the ship, they must take full responsibility. As for the 'politis is too involved' line so 'its his fault as well', you should do yourself a favour and watch a bit of AFL - the presidents (chairman equivalents) of those clubs completely run the show (so evidently its not a flawed business model), his love of the club (and money) is probably even keeping us afloat, and by getting rid of the two under-performing blokes he put there (Noyce & Smith) he has taken responsibility and looked for change because obviously the status quo wasnt working. The restructure btw (ie no CEO) is actually quite good imo - gets Easts more involved and makes it all far more integrated and streamlined - allows the football guys to just worry about football.

Trust me, that was nothing. I'm an unpaid adviser for Cory Bernandi.

You may have been celebrating the signing of smith at the time but I am still celebrating his sacking.
