I know there was a small amount of eulogising for Brian Smith on here, but I must repeat some sympathies for Steve Noyce - I'm sure he is gutted at the moment.

I wholeheartedly believe he did his best during his tenure with Easts and I still regard him as one of the best CEOs in the business. A damn good bloke into the bargain.

When Smith and Noyce were signed by the club I was over the moon, thinking they were a perfect fit.

I sense the purge that has been going on in our ranks has provided a real lift for many of our fans...its a natural common reaction that, when times are tough, wield the axe...the taller the poppy the better...its cleansing, refreshing, populist....even if it times a bit non-sensical.

The thing that rancours most with me though is HOW Nick delivers these tough decisions...it is my understanding that both Smith and Noyce were well into future preparations for 2013 with the club to swiftly have the rug pulled from under their feet.

There just has to be a better way...Nick??

I wish Brian Canavan all the best, as did Steve Noyce in his typical humble and totally honourable style. I can't help but wonder though were some of the fans celebrating this change now, previously as keen to see Brian Canavan go when he did before?

hmmm....change...brings hope, excitement..and the comfort that we have learned from past mistakes and are now addressing them.

Well done Steve Noyce...you are way too good to be out of top level administration for too long..may your next gig bring the rewards you deserve.
I'm happy we got rid of Noyce. Never impressed me, but I'm only one person.

      Well said Jack.
I had several dealings with Steve Noyce and he was good at his job and was a very decent man.
He understood the big picture, was not impressed with how things were going and thatnkfully was not a knee jerk reactionist.

Canavan may do some great things, but he made some pretty poor decisions based on finance too. Trying to get rid of Harold Matts and SG ball was certainly a doozy.

John you become more moronic every day - both in your psychobable views on footy and your increasingly abusive posts.

Me either.. He never gave me any confidence at all that he was a progressive leader.. that said a part of me feels sorry for him. I am not sure Canavan is an upgrade either. Neither hold a candle to Burnie Gurr. I would have rathered we moved on in a new direction and not go back to the past which is what Canavan represents. I guess he is a guy Politis trusts but I am not sure what he is going to bring to the table which is different to what he or Noyce did in the past.

You truly are a head case with serious issues. You may not agree with Jack's opinions regarding our club's administration, but to attack someone personally about family matters and in such an insensitive manner on a forum is about as low as it goes. If I were choosing a role model for my children I'd know who I'd rather have.

We all got abuse from trolls on these forums I guess...its the risk we take.
I think not! If people want doormats, they can go to Bunnings. Forums are not places for twisted bitter individuals to make personal attacks just because they are bored/lonely/demented. A few good bannings of a few bad men is in order I believe..

It would be pretty bloody boring on here without him.

Keep doing what you do John.

I think we'd all agree that Burnie Gurr would be the best result, but it's not to be and Canavan is a great appointment, especially with his role as COO fitting into a new structure.

This is where his strengths lie...operations, precedures, structures etc....hence him being employed to conduct reviews by the NSWRL and now the ARLC re. the shoulder charge.

The re-structure is the key here and Canavan's focus will be solely on footy operations, which is his area of expertise... with the other chap left to concentrate on the commercial apsects of the business.

Don't know much about him, but I like the way it's been structured.

I just looked up Scott Bennetts, he has a background in managing licensed clubs, why should Canavan report to Bennetts on football matters??? I must admit I know little about Bennetts, apart from his linkedin profile:

Does anyone on here know any more about him, met him, anything??
