  • The most injury prone roosters of all time

We could probably even make a team out of them like The Stumpster used to be obsessed with.

I just cant go past Papworth.
It was when we really needed some spark in attack and good players were hard to find. Year after year Brett promised so much but delivered only plaster. They should make a Phar Lap like video about this guy except the ending is when he is turned into glue.

    A very close second.....
Anthony Minicello. No value for 5 years. A crock of the highest order.

Ryan Cross was always on the sidelines.
    Too much shot putt.

    Eric Grothe Jnr.
What a ****ing pussy for the RWB.

    Michael Eden
Just looked and played like a fag.

    Steve Hardy.
    Paper mache.

    Wayne Marshall.
For all the protection the man was St Elsewhere

Dennis "the next big thing" Beecraft.
    Constantly injured by his hair.

    Martin Offiah
    Weighed down by his cock.

    Harvey Howard
I think he managed to squeeze out 4 games. English poof.

    Phil Clarke.
Had excuses. Will let the third of the pommy duds off cause he broke his neck.
    barbarian ......arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!!!!

You have ripped Mini off one year in your post,as one of the longest injury/suspension free period of any player in the modern era came to end in round 6 of 2006.

Easily Pappy. He must be made of chicken bones, they snapped that much.

I don't think you'll get too many replies from about 2/3 of the Chookpensters. They weren't born when any of these guys played.

      P.S I'd forgotten about Charriots!

I reckon you've got most of them Trew, or those that I can remember anyway.

Have to rack my brains to see if I can come up with any more.

I reckon Jack Elsegood might qualify. Even when he played it was basically on one leg.

          Nice eye candy though.

            Andrew Walker..

Bad injuries....at even worse times for the club..

His bad luck with injuries may have cost us a comp..

One player you mentioned there who I think was never given a fair go was Eric Grothe jr. Rick Stupids loyalty to inferior players like Byrne over Grothe cost us a premiership.

                  Shane Shackleton.

                  Thankfully he is leaving...

Grothe was a bloody liability in defence when he was at the Roosters.

I remember one night at Parra Stadium I was watching him in our reserve grade team. Deadset the bloke backed his way into the crowd in order to avoid making a bloody tackle. Absolutely woeful.

There is no way we would have won a GF with Grothe in our team, with his attitude at the time.

Read trew's comments regarding Grother Jnr.

Grothe is a kid who the coach needs to put his arm around from time to time, he has always been talented. You say we wouldn't have won a GF with him. I've always said if Grothe is on the end of that pass from Freddy in 03 we would of won that GF.

Maybe it's because Sticky did not spend 'quality time' with Grothe but the fact is Grothe Jnr was not in the right frame of mind for first grade for most of his time at the Roosters.

He may well have scored that try in the 2003 GF, but he also may well have let in another 3 due to his inability to defend.

I would liken him then to SKD curently - sure he may score you one try, but he costs you plenty more.

There is no doubt Grothe has had "issues" throughout his career but he has always had undeniable talent. He is nothing like those slugs Byrne or SKD. When Grothe was at his best he could pick up the ball from his own 20 and score untouched.

Never doubted his attacking prowess Fitzy, but he can be very defensively challenged if he's not 'switched on'.

You have to weigh up whether his attacking ability makes up for his defensive liability. He's been targetted a fair bit in his career, and spent a fair bit of time in reserves at Parra last year because of it.

It's all about whether his focus is on footy or elsewhere, and that changes from month to month.
