    Agreed, and a better coach.

We had plenty of chances to beat them in that GF and we played badly, especially in the 2nd 1/2. Sure the Reffing was diabolical but it was that Way the whole season, many times we overcame crooked decisions in many games that year, we just couldn't do it when it counted.

    Our own fault IMO.

Hardly set the world on fire. Didnt deliver a premiership to either club as well.

Really why am I bothering even trying to discuss something with you. Anybody who resorts to the 'you know nothing about the game' line because somebody happens to disagree with their opinion without being able to back up their own statements with any facts is not really worth it in the long run!
Ive been wondering that for the last 2 pages now! lol

Agreed about the coach part. Bennet v Smiff. Not even in the same league. As for the other part however, I have other ideas.

2nd half was murder.. I remember Pearce or Carney trying some trick shot in the 1st or 2nd set of the second half on the last tackle (instead of going a good kick and chase-build pressure) and you knew there and then the game was about to go, and go quickly.

To be fair both were past their best.

SBW is probably at his peak right now.

Does anyone else think it's weird that we trained at Leichardt Oval?

I tend to think he is at the twilight of his Rugby (league or union) careers which is why his future is now headed towards boxing.

Time will tell tho. Lets hope he can be the one to shine where the others have not.

And that's fair mate, everyone's entitled to their opinion.

They were the better side in that era, they had the better coach and better players. They definitely got the better rub of the green with the reffs, but Waynekerr coached sides always do.

We were still a very good side at overcoming adversity in the second 1/2 of 2010. We couldn't overcome it in the GF though. Blokes like Carntey were targeted and didn't stand up to the pressure applied.

IMHO if we had won that game I'd have considered it a miracle now. Looking back at it every odd possible was stacked against us.

                          Carnt of a game.

That 2nd 1/2 still pains me to think of it.

We had zero in the applied pressure game. We cracked at every opportunity. Carntey, Pearce, Bwaiff and Mini and no one went out of their way to own the result.

A lot like 04 IMO. It was there for the taking at 1/2 time, but the back end was meek at best.

                              Champions stand up under pressure.
