Does anyone else see what $BW did as very minor compared to Folau and kHunt???

I mean $BW walked out on his club cos he felt he was being underpaid and left with very little room to negotiate a new deal, as at the time he did sign the 5 year contract he was told by the club they needed to pay him less cos of the other highly paid players at the club, who then were either sacked or left. He went on to play another code in different countries and to box.

Folau and kHunt went to another code primarily to steal league fans in traditional RL areas away to that code. They knew they were being used as a promotional vehicle and were prepared to damage the code they made their name in.

$BW didn't IMO leave RL with the intention of damaging our game. He left cos he felt he was being used unfairly by The Boggs. The other two knew what they were being signed for, to open new markets for a rival code in traditional RL areas.

$BW is portrayed my the media as a traitor to RL. I have never seen the other two bagged in a similar way. In fact they receive very little negative press about their role in betraying the code they made their names in. Folau is like some shitty prodigal son.

    ahhh geeeez another sensible post.

i can see everlast as our new sponsor, or boxa, or a mosque

Whenever The Telegraph is concerned, you can be sure that anything to do with the Roosters will be portrayed as bad and anything to do with the Eels, Bulldogs or Vermin will be portrayed as good. This is because the latter represent the majority of their bogan readership.

que promotional feature of roosters players, fans and administrators facing an angry mob of other supporters and *cough* media correspondants *cough*, with boots, balls and all. sbw leading the way of course.

To add here, $BW did the crime and has done the time. He paid 750k in compensation to The Boggs and was forced to agree to sitting out of the game for 5 seasons.

What has Folau done to repair the damage he's inflicted to RL???

I see pRicky is whinging today that the NRL isn't moving quick enough to his liking regarding Folaus reinstatement to RL. All the day after $BW signed with us. Just to jump on the gravy train of publicity and to guilt the NRL into meeting Watsamattas demands.

$BW has paid for his breaking a contract. Paid more heavily than any other contract breaker I've ever witnessed. He has more than done his time.

Folau hasn't ever been questioned publicly about his intentions and his reasons for willingly being paid to establish a foothold for another code in one of RLs largest nurseries of talent, Western Sydney.

I would like to see Folau explain his actions. As a RL fan I don't understand why more isn't made of this issue.

you think folou's 4 million dollar contract was because he was a good player?
as well as for marketing, the money in his conmtract was to keep him quiet. go about his buisness quietly, oh you want to leave? ok here's your money, thanks for helping us get our foot in the door.

too right about this though. sbw is being treated like he murdered david gallop and ran away for 5 years.
folou essentially tried to murder, or atleast, keep rugby league quiet in comparison with afl. and hes been regarded as a saint!

For what it's worth, I'd have the shits if we tried to sign Folau. What he tried to do to the game should be treated as treason.

Hopefully the commisson might bring in a rule that will prevent any returning defectors playing rep footy for a couple of seasons.

Similar and further to Stsae's post, I believe that general league fans posting about him not deserving (or being allowed) to come back and play NRL are seriously misguided and short-sighted.

Firstly, he has paid the price for his actions, including a 5 year ban plus a $750,000 payout to the Bulldogs (this is more than drug cheats like Dell, O'Davis and MacDougal had to contend with).

Secondly, talk of a precedent being set (around 1 yr contracts, boxing, etc) is ultimately an immaterial notion given that the game is changing/has changed from the "good old days" of Tina Turner and Winfield Cup (that all of the nostalgists still lament the loss of).

The salary cap is restricting the amount of money an individual – who let's be honest, without whom there's no game – can earn. Future generations would be better-off playing soccer, rugby or AFL so that their short careers can provide the wealth that many want.

I think it's fair to say that the Players – particularly marquee players – deserve to be remunerated proportionately wrt supply and demand, given the huge revenue generated by the game (as a lefty I hate the idea of fat, cigar-smoking Tories making the real money while the players smash themselves silly week-in, week-out).

Thirdly, although I feel for the Bulldogs fans at some level, the club systematically cheated back in '02 and the spill-out from that formed a culture that strove to 'take' from the young SBW, but refused to 'give' in a way commensurate with his value/worth. Undoubtedly he dealt with it all in a poor way, but see Point 1 above for the penance paid.

Given the above, all of the ranting and raving really is nothing but noise. Get on with watching this great game.

As a fan, I would of been very happy if SBGronk signed with us for 3 years and was not allowed to box. But the 'deal' Politis gave him in my opinion stinks and it will end in tears (especially in the long term).

Very much agree with this (no surprises there).

Can you imagine Melbourne or Brisbane putting up with those terms?

Let's be right, if it was Souths, the Eels or the Sharks....we'd be p!ssing ourselves laughing.
