Quite a few - including me - because it was blown way out of proportion. I'm sure some of the people who defended Todd no doubt included some of the morons that think the same as you.

The point of your post? To drag up absolutely meaningless misdemeanours from a good five years ago to prove a ridiculous argument?

The first part of your moronic post is absolutely illiterate so I wont waste time on that one. If you are that blind to see the effect he had on the team then really, your post is, as you say, meaningless.

Point is mucka that he is NOT the angel you seem to be blinded into thinking he is. By the way, can you count? Because last time I tried 2010 was only 2 years ago. Wow, and you try to accuse others of having a rediculous argument!?!?!

Settle petals, you're ruining a good thread...possibly the best I've read on the pen...some very well thought our arguments reading through it all.

Nothing more I can add except to say I'm pro SBW. His signining is massive....could be anything and I'd rather take the risk than not.

I still think he'll be here longer term than most people think.

All though he didn't seem TOO enthusiastic, I am so excited to see him play for us. Although I will miss the first half of the season.

                  I don't think Sonny-Bill is an angel.

I think you bringing up minor misdemeanours of his that date from five to seven years ago - one in '05, two in '07 - to discredit his character in 2012 is ludicrous.

My point about Carney was that a lot of people on here (myself included) defended him because we believed he was treated harshly, especially by the media. Minor incidents triggered calls for massive consequences, and misdemeanours were blown out of proportion by people like Rothfield.

However, people against SBW coming to the club (like yourself), now seem willing to play Rothfield, and blow very similar incidents way out of proportion to suit their argument.

                  It is ridiculous.

You make good points about the media circus SBW may bring, the disruption it may cause, the fact that he could be distracted by boxing, union etc. - but trying to discredit his character by dragging up the past discredits you.

Hope that's a little easier for you to wrap your head around.

                    • in 10 years time, the day sbw signed with the roosters will become known as the day the nrl fell apart.
marshall is the fian play in japan or france or whatever.
others will follow. smith will want to play in japan, slater will want to play nfl, inglis will want to play basketball, pearce will want to play ice hockey.
the only way this can be stopped is if the current nrl ceo makes it stop.
                      oh wait...

                      • Maybe to nip this in the bud, the NRL will refuse to rubber stamp his signing. (cue abuse)

                          Why would they mate???

Reportedly they have already doubled the NZ TV deal for next season, a day after he signed.

TV ratings will be huge when he plays, so will crowds. Sponsors will love that shit.

From their view financially they would be knocking back $$$ by not allowing $BW back into the game.

                          That would be bad business.

                          • I don't want Scummy Bill at the Roosters, never have. I accept that he's here and he'll get pixie claps when I go to see him play. That's as good as I can offer.

I have no issue with him returning to the NRL. He has complied with all the requirements of his termination from the Dogs.

I just don't want him at my club. And nothing or no-one will change my mind on that.

I only hope that the bloke can meet half of the expectations some on here are placing on him. He will certainly meet mine, as I'm not expecting too much from him at all.

With any luck this will be a whistlestop stay at the Roosters and at the end of the seaon he can either return to yawnion or perhaps another NRL club. I mean there are still 14 to go yet he hasn't played with - with one year deals I reckon he can get around to spending time at half of them before considering retirement. And I'm sure each will pay him extremely well. After all, variety is the spice of life for this bloke it seems - always on the move before he gets bored.

I have to admit to a sense of dejavou(?) at some of the postings on here recently. Takes me back to the unrealistic expections after we signed Wanka Mason. Hopefully there will be a better end result this time around.

I am struggling to grasp this so called lack of enthusiasm at a press conference meaning he is not keen to play NRL.. Is it too hard for some people to understand that he may be nervous when it comes to public speaking and the pressure of being at a press conference where every word he speaks will be scrutinized. It is not like it was 15 minutes before a match, he won't be playing for another 4 months. Judge his excitement to play when he is on the field, not talking to the media scum.
