  • New CEO Dave Smith a Roosters man

Asked if he could name the Australian captain, Smith replied: "No. As I say, I am a fan. I am like most fans. I watch a game of footy on the TV. I'll watch the Roosters or I'll watch State of Origin or I'll watch the recent international match. I have been on a plane for half of this year.

    Interesting,,,,

That was my impression too. Let's hope it's true.

Yeah real Roosters man couldn't even name the Australian captain so I doubt he'd could even name 1 of our players he's a union man.

          watch the Roosters ???

He appears so into his football that he probably was watching the Swans play AFL and thought he was watching the Roosters play rugby league.

Anyway am willing to give him 12 mths in his new role before passing judgement.

My hope is he's a completely inpartial business man who views the NRL as a business and isn't involved enough at a personal level to care who wins.

The old David was a Super League lawyer (employed by News Ltd)... while I'm not implying he had anything to do with the Storm's systematic salary cap roarting, it was a News Ltd gig. He had a vested interest in backing the company that made him squillions (and gave him the top job!)

While I'm yet to see the new Dave do anything, to me it's a breath of fresh air that he doesn't appear to have an emotional/professional interest in any of the clubs/sponsors. GREAT!

I wish him the best and hope for the sake of the sport that he does a good job.

If anything, David Gallop wanted to penalise the Rorting Storm even more than what transpired...and he was a Roosters man too just for the record. One of his best friends from uni days was a client of mine and he said David had been following us for years but of course had to be impartial during his reign as CEO.

I'm pretty sure he used to play in the centres and kick goals for us in the late 80's......

Even if he only knows us by name, I don't care as long as we get a fair go. That's all I want.

Did anyone else notice the little dig at us by (surprise surprise) the Daily Astonisher.
In its story about Smith gettig the job, it said that the first person on the phone to congratulate him was Nick Politis.

Now how would they know that ? and the implication was that the Roosters are already after positioning themselves to getting favouratism with the new boss !
