I think when he was at the Roosters he wasn't right.
Definitely was one of those, like Pearce, whose name didn't hinder his progress thru the grades mate.

Shame about the depression, I didn't know that. Would make sense with his at times erratic behavior, for a pro sportsman.

I have read he was a reluctant footballer. Something about doing what others expected, not what he really wanted to do.

Loves his music, like his old man.

Funny thing is I don't believe he ever reached his true potential. Maybe it was depression, maybe it was just he was born in the wrong era. I always believed hed have been a better player in the 70s and 80s, again like his old man.

    The FlogPen .

    You know it makes sense.

IMO your right music is his 1st love.

Expectations to live up to your dad in RL can be pretty hard & it can get some guys down always being comparred to there dad.

The boys will surprise most of you next season. They finally got someone he can actually stop the whole training and break it down to make things more understandable, a new trainer making them work hard not only on their fitness, but strength as must.
These guys did not cover most of those training under people were there before. They're also learn to be accountable on their action plus the massive discipline in check,
why I can not wait to see the boys playing comes 2013.
        Bring on the 2013 season.

Expectations weigh many down, not just footy players.

Give me football intelligence over speed every day of the week.
Give me a bit of everything I say, am I asking for too much? haha. There is no point having a decent football brain and then being slower than Anasta.

He was never quick over 20, like his old man wasn't, but he wasn't slow over 100 when he wound up.

Still speed wasn't his asset, it was his frame and the power he carried to bust a tackle.

I can tell you that Eric Grothe for a number of years was the fastest player in the NRL. His pace was a major asset.

Thanks for the info helpinghand, all sounds very promising.

I think everyone is pumped for this season. So much to look forward to the only negative for me was the Moga injury, real shame for the kid.

True true fitzy, he was training hard before he done his ACL tho, but will only make him more determine to work hard to get back on the field. I believe he will start back at the gym next week for some upper body training while he's out from his feet.

Don't forget there's no subsidy for speed.

That was my point 13. My post was in direct response to the comment that "speed is everything".

Comparing players between eras is fraught with danger, the current crop of top Grade players are faster , more athletic, more skilful and possess astute calculating football brains across the board, in the old days they would all have stood out now they need all those attributes and the X factor to stand out ,because we expect more each time the bar gets raised.
