  • Easts Leagues Tonight

Was at the club tonight for the opening of a new bar downstairs. I can't believe how much the club has changed over the years.

Still full of desperates playing the pokies but has had a major facelift.

Was great to see all of the memorabilia of years gone past. Many players actually commented on how it was inspiring to see it.

The person who invited me introduced to a few past and present players including Freddy. Wooden spoon coach or not, he will always be a Roosters legend.

I also had a chat to the Trent Robinson. By coincidence the company I work for is doing some work for him. He comes across as a pretty down to earth sort of guy. Seems very realistic about how things are going.

Apparently the players are "training" up to eight hours per day, which includes weights, ball work, video sessions etc. One of the players made me laugh when he said he was tired after "working from 9 to 5".

One player in particular couldn't hide his joy about the former coach no longer being in charge. I found that quite funny.

It was very interesting to hear the players talk about the positive vibe around the club. In particular, how well received SBW has been among the group. All are very excited about playing alongside him.

JWH is a classic, with plenty of material.

I have good feeling about next season.

Thank you for the classy post Vasco and I'm glad you had a good time. I had a coffee with Shannon the other day and he mentioned how amazing the bar looked and how impressive the memorabilia hall of fame is, something which has been sadly lacking at the club for many years now. Of course, some of the staff were telling Shannon how they are now getting complaints from some of the older patrons, saying the bar is 'too bright' and 'too modern'. I guess you can't please all of the people all of the time. I'm going to check it out this afternoon as we can pick up our memberships from today according to the letter I received from the club.

                  9-5 Training is great!!!
Before it was probably 9-11 followed by a beer and a visit to the tattoo parlour.

Thanks for the insight Vasco. Glad to hear the Leagues club embracing the football history. I remember walking in there years ago thinking you could mistake the place as just another leagues club, the Roosters theme was scant throughout the place.

                    Chook.

What a laugh, the downstairs area for years has been so dark and uninviting, it will be great to see a nice bright modern new bar with the sporting memorabilia back in its rightful place. Now if they could something about the appalling bistro they have upstairs.

Not a dickhead. Just someone not gullible enough to think that a chat with a new coach, a front rower with some decent material and a player who is happy that the old coach is gone, and a new bar......will mean a good season.

But thanks for the compliment anyway.
