      Thanks for the link, Spanner.

Ralph - you are a miserly curmudgeon and you should be embarrassed by your take and no give attitude.

Again thanks for the link dude. Its just another business action to list clubs that way. It makes good sense but they are not the charity some on here think they are.

SG, I guess all the merchandise I buy has no bearing hey? Guess everyone who spends a lot of money of official Roosters merchandise is just another freeloader right?

For what it's worth we were at 4331 around this time last year so we're slightly ahead at the moment.

lol... oh yeah, I forgot in my all selfishness to ask how many kidneys you have?

You know nothing about me to make assumptions about selfishness. Based on that, I will say you look pretty stupid right about now!! hahahahaha

                  Ralph. Chillax, homes.

I said you see a "miserly curmudgeon", which means tight arse. I have no doubt that you're a decent person. Plus if you have donated a kidney, then you're a hero in my opinion - great work.

But you're still a tight arse with an ill-informed position on the merits of club membership

As it goes, I know lots about the NFP nature of clubs. I've done the advertising and design for many clubs, inc. Dooleys out at Lidcombe, Brighton RSL and even the Roosters (back in 2003/4).

These clubs make a profit, but don't distribute profits - that's significant - as it means they don't exist to fill the pockets of disinterested shareholders.

Given there are no shareholders' dividends to act as the driver for growth (or raison d'être), you need to ask yourself 'what is the driver for growth'?

Well, it comes down to pride and passion for the club, it's members, the badge.

I do. I dont need to be a paid member atm to do so however. I know the merrits of membership and right now, it does not suit me. 'Ill-informed', no. Well informed, yes and thus my reason for not being a paid member at this point in time.

Fair enough. I'm not sure I understand your logic (you spend plenty of time on this site so you're obviously passionate about the team/club), you live the highlife over in Europe, so $40 won't break the bank. Why not?

Were you a club member last year?

Mate, its never easy to understand my logic!

I am not going to renew my membership until I return home for the 2014 season. The club and I had some 'issues' toward the end of the 2011 season and I ended up having my membership refunded in full. Seeing as I didnt need the money, I told them to forward it to the Glenn Sargood Raise up a Rooster night. It was nice to contribute somehow to such a good cause even if it wasnt the way I intended it to be done.

                          Uh huh. That makes sense.

I didn't renew in 2010 (d'oh!) after the disastrous 2009 wooden spoon season. The catalyst was the last round of the season, wooden spoon playoff against the Cowboys, Fitzy's last game. The club wanted us agonising fans to dip into our own pockets to buy novelty Fitzy bald-head caps for the game, after watching our boys piss on the jersey all season long. The club should have distributed them for free to honour our favourite son, but instead wanted $5 a-pop.

So yeah - I didn't renew the next season (and we almost won it!). There's a lesson in there somewhere. I think...

I picked mine up from the club the other day.
They are pretty good this year.
I wish they would do another sticker sheet like they did in 2011 with the old school chook on it.
I need something small and discreet for the car and the little white one they did was perfect.
