    Remember this very carefully.
Minicello hasn't even wanted to be part of the leadership teams in the past. He didn't want the responsibility.
He should not be getting the captaincy unless things have changed dramatically, does anyone really think this has happed ?

I think Mini will make a great capt off the field and through the media but on the field whether he is playing fb or wing, he will be too far away from the action to get in the refs ear...

I think co-captains is def the way to go... much like the way manly do it... Jason King is the media capt taking a lot of pressure off lyon who doesn't like all the attention but on the field lyon is def the leader...

I believe mini could fill this jason king role until whoever is named co capt is ready to fulfill the full duties

Going on his performances last year Mini should struggle to hold his spot in the side let alone be given the captancy.Whats the point in giving mini the captancy? At best he will finish the season and retire. At worst he will put in a few shockers and have a run at the jets and retire. We will see what happens, but Mini as captan is not the way to go imo we should be looking at the future and a long term leader. If we only want a short term leader for next year we have one hes possibly the best wide running forward in any rugby code in the world and has won just about everything possible on a football field. He is possibly the most profesional athlete in the NRL and the players especially the young polynesians look up to him with close to hero worship.Wonder if they will give him the captancy for a year instead of mini i would.

I agree. He should have the honour of captaining the club for at least one full season, but it would be best if he did it off the field.

            Mini Captain AND unfortunately fullback.

Pearce, CAptain to keep him there beyond 2013.

They are the only two real contenders and for reasons completely seperated from being the best men available for the job.

Is it more a role or an honour? Anybody know what the captain really does? In Braith's case he would:
              - Whinge about the refs and palm off blame for our losses during press conferences.
              - Argue with the refs so that others didn't get in trouble for whinging.
              - Let the team do as they like on the field and challenge Todd Carney for the 5/8 spot when he was getting his life back together and finding form.

              ---

A new captain in my view has to:
              - Protect the players but do this by whinging less, taking most of the blame himself when we lose and giving it to the players when they are being slack.
              - Not argue with the refs EVER during play. Only clarify points of confusion and alert the ref when he isn't picking up on certain plays (without whinging.)
              - Motivate the players on-field and also inspire them by his own playing ability.
              - Make sure there is structure on-field and players are putting their practice into play. NO AD LIB FOOTY!!!!!!!!!! IT'S A JOKE AND WILL NOT WIN A GRAND FINAL!!!!!

I think he is far more serious on and off the field these days, its his last roll of the dice and he will give all areas 110%

Off-field it's an honour. On field it's both.

Therefore, why not appoint Mini as the Club Capt not the team capt? (in the past it was an ambassador type role bestowed to a club legend in recognition). I'm sure this has been done in the past.....can't remember though who that honour went to?

From my point of view, Big Marty needs to pull his finger out. If he doesn't deliver he maybe seen as excess baggage with the likes of JWH, Tasi,Evans and Nappa,.
Im talking15-20+ tackles per game and consistent 100+ metres

                            Marty was soft in 2012.
                            He needs to get agro.
He needs to assert his presence this year.

Marty was unfit due to no pre season training from his foot injury.
I am expecting a big season from him this year...

I think that's a rubbish excuse. Surely the first ten games or so of the season, plus continued training throughout the season, would have had him geared up for a big second half of the year. But no....Marty was soft.
He has loads of ability and potential. He just needs to take some angry pills. I doubt any opposition fears him.
Comparisons with Dallas Hood are reality at the moment. Lets hope at the end of the year we are comparing him to some decent props.
