find it interesting that they are saying they are announcing the "club captain" today, does that mean the first grade team captain could be different?

Makes sense to me fletch (as i alluded to last week). If they go this way Mini will be the club capt.
Capt of the team.....don't be surprised if it's JWH!

If our club had any balls it would be JWH(C) and Cordner (VC).

We need to wait and see if we want to re-sign Pearce beyond next season. If he doesn't improve next season then giving him the captaincy would be a waste of time.

Fine theory but I reckon he'll be signed somewhere well before mid season.

I'd have JWH close to last choice. Way too loose and not even guaranteed to be in first grade

I can't see Pearce leaving. The club seems to be heading in the right direction. He has been through alot with the club and is still only 23. He'll have time for another big contract down the track. The squad is looking stronger, and we have some young talent coming through.

Would be my pick for Captain. I would like to see a strong VC with plenty of responsibility both on and off the field also. The likes of JWH or Kennedy. In this day and age, with all the media commitments, sponsor commitments, etc etc, a vocal VC would be a handy addition.

                          Tony,
His discipline & leadership has greatly improved since 2010.
No fluke he was named the 2012 Player of the Year! Off the field he's a wonderful clubman too.
Up 'n up for the young enforcer i reckon.

Mate, agree with all of the above. My post was in response to some opinions on here that Pearce has to prove himself this season before we sign him - if we choose to hold off on signing him there will be a number of other clubs that won't be as tentative.

I hope it is up and up for him Gman, but I just don't really rate him as footballer. As this hardman stuff gets a little bit tiresome when you see him constantly slow to get back in defence and devoid of skills with the ball. It was embarrassing watching him trying to stir Myles up in that game last season, when Myles is twice the player he'll ever be

I would say he is a guaranteed starter each week.

                                You don't rate him?
