    • dont know if anyone has picked up on this yet, but there was an article released an hour ago, updating the situation. basically it says jennings hasnt been released from the panthers yet, he wont be if hes has to take a paycut at another club, and that the roosters dont even have enough cap space anyway . . . yet.

on the other hand, it also says that jennings could be here by the end of the week

I read a while back that the panthers were willing to pay 200k of his salary when he was going to parra. Surely things haven't changed THAT much that they now can't even pay half of that.

But he always hated us..His old man was a lol@50uFF$ tragic,& Tethzza was bought up being told to hate us..

The draft got him here, but he fought it as he wanted to play under Warren Ryan at Wests..
Yeah he was Horrie Tezza he went to the same high school as me at Newtown.I still remember him scoring 4 tries in the 1986 Buckley Shield final with our school winning 56-8 a bit of other trivia in that same Zetland team was Gavin Badger the first grade ref his mum tried unsuccessfully to convince my parents to play rugby league which would've been in that team.
Ok CRM, since we are a little off topic and talking Buckley Shield, it would be remiss of me not to talk about the mighty boys from Bomaderry High . Us boys from the country beat Cleveland st high in the final. I remember we had a great side all thru high school. Our big winger, Allen Jarrett scored in the corner in the last minute and broke the touchies leg. We won by a point. Think it was '81. Anyone on here play that match? It would be amazing to reminisce . I remember looking at the opposition across the field before the first whistle and they all had beards and mo's.

None of us had ever played union before but we also won the Buckland Shield, beating Randwick High 22 nil in the final. As I said, that year we just had a great footy team. The boys from the country. (Near Nowra)

Sorry Chris, off topic, but dam they were great times. 30 years ago.

I went to Newtown High as well. Was in the same year as Terry. Tricky was in the year below and Monoa Thompson (Jarryd Haynes Dad) was the School captain.
Were you in our year or below?

                          • The more I think about it the more I think 500k actually is actually quite a fair price.

                            A 350k contract in 2012 was 8.3% of the $4.2m salary cap

                            A 500k contract in 2013 is 8.6% of the 5.8m salary cap

We're not doing too badly if we can pick him up for somewhere around that.

You must be the same vintage as me JC,in 1990 we also made the semis of the University shield but got knocked out by Forbes high who eventually won the final we had a young Soloman Haumono on the bench that night and he was in yr 8 it's a pity we didn't have Tricky and Tezza in that team cause we probably wouldve won it a top effort anyway from a small school without boys being on footy scholarships ala Westfield Sports High.

I think I'm a touch older mate. Our team also made the semis of the Uni shield. I am sure we were up against St Gregorys. I think it was the Uni. We used to enter in that and the other comp of that age but I can't remember what it was called. Maybe it was the other one.

What Eva it was we were murdered by a little half back called Ivan Henjack. Dam he was quick. I'm 46.

You are right. It's great when the little guys do well for a change.

Update. Came to me in my sleep. It was the Commonwealth Bank Cup back then.
