If you went to your employee and demanded certain things, and he agreed because he saw worth in you would you call it ransom? If your employee saw no benefit from you he would tell you to go jump. nobody knows the details of the agreement between SBW and the club as so far it is speculation by the media, because i have not heard from sbw or the club themselves the terms and conditions.
But in the end the club is fully responsible for agreeing to terms set by SBW, not sbw himself.
Mate, I agree with you. In my opinion, the club should have taken the same hard approach to negotiations with him that people are advocating they do with Jennings.

I don't blame Willams for asking for all the concessions, I blame the club for granting them.

My point is, out of those 2 guys, Jennings is the one who I'd take the softer approach with - given his current stauts WITHIN the game.

Agree, do what it takes to get MJ here, he should be given the same amount of time to get here as SBW is given cos as a center he should be able to slip in without to much practice.

      • I would be very very surprised if Jennings hit the Coast, he is very very close to his parents and siblings, in fact his 1st contract with the Riff got his parents out of there fibro Houso home into a home at Shalvey) rent free, his second contract was able to snare his parents a house at Hassall Grove at someone else's expense.

Switching clubs is one thing, leaving Sydney to do so ???

        I would be stunned!!

The people on this forum who know who I am will know it is true. But go ahead and do your research. I'm not looking for credability on here.

WOW I actually applaude the club for it mate I call it a master stroke we signed a player that would command a lot more for far lesss! the concession is that he plays in japan and has a fight and we get to resign OR top up another player OR get to keep a player we may have had to shed.... think about it harder mate!!!!

This is obviously a discussion for another thread, and I don't want to hijack this one.....but just imagine the outcry if Pearce or SKD had said 'you know what - I'm not going to bother with a pre season this year.....I'm going to do whatever I fancy instead, and then turn up just before the season starts'.

It should be the same rule for everyone...surely you can see that?

Except that the two players you named need as much training as possible to be able to get their basic skills like running straight, catching the ball and tackling right:-)

If Folau cost 800k to sign straight out but u had the option to sign him for 450k and allow him to come in late in the preseason whilst he picks up some change playing rugby allowing u to keep cordner and top up Evans what would u do? loose 2 players and get in the pre season OR?
There is not one rule of thumb for everyone/thing and one imo, we would not have signed him for 500k we would have signed him for much more, we get him AND we get to keep or top up another player....surely u see the value?
he attracts sponsors members and we will get a record gate which means we wont be playing in Gosford and NZ and Darwin. It was a smart buisness choice.

                          • A good coach doesn't have a flat rule for all players..

As a good coaches knows that every player is different..

If both of them combined were half as good as SBW is, on a day where he is only giving 50%, then yes, let them miss and offseason. When SKD is in defence, a fly goes through one ear and moves out of the other. He is the only player in the comp who is a shirt puller and not a tackler. As for Junior Junior, well I've already voiced my opinion on him in the past, and will be happy to be proven wrong.

We are signing the best rugby centre in the world who has just come off a world cup win, a Super Rugby win, and a tri nations and bleidsloe win. He is the profilic centre in both attack and defence. He almost busts a tackle every time he runs. He is a much more professional player than when he left and beleive it or not, he is a more fitter player.
