He's the most marketable player we have, sponsors love him, he has the experience and respect of his teammates and the suits.

For someone that has been there for a long period of time, there is a level of expection from him as well. I honestly think if he didn't get the Captin gig he would be a little dissappointed, I don't think he would ever make that public.

Who knows, maybe the extra responsibility of actually having to do something might lead to him to accidentally do something useful?

I'm more concerned about getting Jennings. We land him and Mini's involvement will be lessened to an extent.

Seriously I don't. IF his form goes that far south I'd bet Lefty that he'd receive the tap and he would develop a sudden injury that would require him to announce his retirement. It's been done before with better players than Mini.

Sometimes we don't like ALL the clubs choices but we have to look to the reasons as to why they've been made. Chook makes some very valid points.

Maloney is new and Pearce is one of the boys (out in the town anyway). JWH and MK need to worry more about their form. They havent produced anything on the field to suggest leadership qualities.

Mini is pretty much the only senior player who has been with the club for a long period.

Unfortunately, that is our downfall this season. Lack of older heads and leadership. Hopefully those with a VC next to their name will step up.

Exactly mate.

It would have been much more controversial if he wasn't named captain.

At the end of the day he is going to be in the team every week barring injury so it's a fair enough choice.

RTS is a very talented player but I personally think he needs a full season on the wing to prepare him for the job in 2014.

100% agree mate, I've been one of his harshest critics over the last few years and believe he's not up to NRL standard for a number 1.

But we won't be the first or last club to offer a couple of token gestures (1 year extension and captaincy) to a player over the hill.

We get jennings and minis involvement will certanly be lessoned.He wont be able to get close enough to him to take a pass.Jennings will have to practice the gridiron throw and peg it back to him or mabye mini coukld start running before jennings gets the ball then when jennings catches up with him,probably in about 4 seconds flat mini can scream give it to me michael lol.Sad thing about it is i can see it happening.
