At the end of the day he is going to be in the team every week barring injury so it's a fair enough choice.

RTS is a very talented player but I personally think he needs a full season on the wing to prepare him for the job in 2014.
    Couldn't agree more mate.

RTS impressed the he'll out of me but to think he's actually ready after 3/4 of a season in the 20s and a handful of 1st grade games in his SECOND season of RL is pie in the sky stuff.

I'd love to see the kid play FB for us as long as Mini and retire a club legend. But patience grasshopper.

    The FlogPen .

    You know it makes sense.

End of the day he is our (c) nothing you can do so people that are bagging him and creating negativity just be happy we have SBW, new coach, Maloney, possible Jennings, and a (c) that has bleed for our club more than any other player we currently have rostered.

He is also the only player that can actually speak to the media normally.

Of course Mini was always getting the job.

I still love Mini, but the reality is he just isn't good enough to be in the number 1 jersey anymore.

I don't forget for one second what he's achieved and done for this mighty club, I'm just worried that it will get so bad that I WILL forget the good years.

          Yep..

I hate the fact that i pitied Mini during games last year..

He is now 1 year older..

Seriously I don't. IF his form goes that far south I'd bet Lefty that he'd receive the tap and he would develop a sudden injury that would require him to announce his retirement. It's been done before with better players than Mini.

Sometimes we don't like ALL the clubs choices but we have to look to the reasons as to why they've been made. Chook makes some very valid points.

Everyone loves Mini except a few hundred crazies on the forums.

I love Mini too, but given his ability nowadays his first grade field time in 2013 should be dictated by how he plays this season and nothing else. That now can't happen. His form doesn't have to go south, it's already there. To watch him tarnish his legacy in recent seasons has been agonising.

I was expecting the naming of the captain to be at the season launch.. Hopefully Pearce's re-signing will the evening's highlight.

Someone posted on Twitter that Mini had said he has been training on the Wing as well as Fullback. Not sure if this was in todays press conference?

Brilliant. With his foot injury behind him, he is up for a big year.

                      Love his honesty.

Congratulations to Mini. He was always going to be given the captaincy once it was certain he would play on again another year. The media love him, the public love him. He is a great ambassador for our club and he knows how to string three words together in the post game pressers. Like most on here I believe he should have retired, but given that he hasn't, it was inevitable that he would be chosen as captain. What is interesting is the appointment of the four vice captains. I am stunned that Kennedy isn't one of them but delighted to see Cordner is one.

Loyalty to Mini. Congratulations to him.

Will he be FB or on the wing?

I posted months ago that Mini would be made captain but he may have to play on the wing.
My gut feeling tells me he will start the season at FB.

Im not, he is all show so far with NO GO. If he puts in & spills blood for the Roosters gets himself suspended for 4 to 6 weeks for elbowing or head highing someone then he will start to get some respect.

Fair enough Mickey, but I would have put him ahead of Friend. But you're right his form was pretty craphouse last year except for the obligatory big game against the Tigpies.
