Maubs is a fringe first grader at best, nothing more really
Too slow and bereft of footwork to be a centre, and not a damaging enough ball runner or ball player to be a threat in the forwards. I think he'll end up doing plenty of Newtown time this season
He's been very ordinary last two seasons and will struggle to hold a spot against Cordner, Guerra and SBW, I'd even have Taka ahead of him.
Far from awesome. Ran into a few holes courtesy of Carney. SKD looked good that year as well.
From memory wasn't Maubs on the right in 2010 with Pearce, SKD and Perrett???
2011 he was injured the majority of the season from memory.
2012 he started the year in the centers and as captain and collected more than one MOtM award in our early wins.
Like the team he lost form badly after ANZAC day. IMO he was lucky not to spend the end of the season at Pootown, but he wasn't alone there.
I've heard he had fallen out with the playing group mid 2012. Going by the fact he was captain last year in Rnd 1 when Bwaiff was out, then his for went to shit at about the same time rumors like that arose, I believe he is need of a massive season to even secure another contract at the club.
Shame though, I have always rated his ability as a quality clubman and genuine utility.

Yeah I remember Pearce, Maubs, SKD and Perret dominating the right side. For the line breaks/try's down the right side in 2010 I would happily say Pearce was responsible for, or had a hand in 90% of them. Carney/Anasta left. Gus rambling on about the Anasta corridor...
Minichiello (Captain). Given to Mini out of stupidity and also a small sense of sentiment. I respect Mini in every way and admire him for his past achievements, but giving someone a job which they are not good enough to do, just based on loyalty is not good enough.
He had a horror season and loyalty alone should not guarantee him anything more than a spot in the team if he is lucky. I'm sorry for all the mini lovers but giving mini the captaincy was a massive oversight. Not everyone was born a leader and Mini is definitely not a leader on the field, nor has he shown any signs of leadership.
Horror season?
He gave 100% every game.
And if Pearce and Anasta hadn't been throwing passes at players' feet on the bounce, and Pearce hadn't been passing to a Mini on the burst...missiles at his shoulders and knees, instead of 'soft hands' passes he could actually catch...he would've scored many tries and made a lot more ground.

100% of nothing is still nothing. At least that's what they taught me at school.

The Pearce bashing amazes me...
But let's just hope Mini is the first winger since ????? to captain a club to a premiership.....

Good call bondi boy...he's the scapegoat..watch the backslappers this year though when Minis a part of a successful season.
always thought, and still do, that aubo should be used as a chris flannery type bench utility. he can cover pretty much every position except fullback and prop (which you would think wouldnt be too hard if ben creagh can play prop), he runs great lines and has good vision. hes born for the chris flannery type role imo
The problem is that both Aubusson and SBW are right edge players. With Guerra lurking on the left fringe and Cordner marching through at lock, it leaves that issue. Remember that both Cordner and Guerra are tied up to long term contracts too.
11. Guerra
12. SBW
13. Cordner
14. Aubusson / Symonds / Arona
SBW and Aubusson are both contracted until the end of this year - I am sure that will be taken into account when determining whether to hold onto Aubusson. Furthermore, Symonds and Arona are both here until the end of 2014 and are proven versatile forwards who are more than capable of having an impact off the bench.
I like the way things have panned out. With Masoe gone, it leaves the following:
Everything has fallen into place quite well. With SBW coming on board, it will force Aubusson to lift his game to stay with us and earn his right edge spot again, or simply fall to the wayside and fail to gain a new contract with us. With Evans and also Napa (2015 apparently) also here long term, it forces all four of FPN, Taka, Tasi and Ailaomai, who are ALL off contract, to really make a strong push to be retained beyond this season too.
You must've seen all the dumb passes Pearce and Anasta threw during the season.
We had the worst completion rate in the NRL at one stage late in the season.
Or have been purchasing refreshments at the times.
