ROOSTERS coach Trent Robinson said there was no deadline for Michael Jennings to defect to Bondi - and also revealed other centre recruits were being considered should the Panthers star play elsewhere in 2013.
Almost a month has passed since the Roosters first expressed interest in signing Jennings from Penrith, who are trying to create salary-cap space to attract a top-line playmaker.
Robinson yesterday said there had been no recent developments, but insisted the Roosters were in no hurry to bolster their three-quarter line.
With B J Leilua released and Tautau Moga unavailable for much of 2013 thanks to an ACL tear, the Roosters are suddenly bereft of specialist left-edge centres.
Young gun Roger Tuivasa-Sheck has been training in the position for part of the summer, while utility Mitchell Aubusson has also slotted in competently over the past few years. But with money freed up from the departure of Leilua and prop Mose Masoe, the Roosters are in the market for at least one reinforcement.
"As we've talked to Michael's management, we've talked to other managers about other players," Robinson said.
"We've dropped two centres and we're looking at trying to replace that.
"We're happy going into the season the way we are, but we'll also look for a quality centre as well.
"We've got room ... and Michael Jennings fits the mould. There's no deadline. We're not in a rush. We're OK with the squad we've got at the moment. But if something like that comes up we're excited as a club."
Happy about RTS.
