  • League fans blamed for rampage after match

SUPPORTERS of the Bulldogs rugby league team went ''berserk'', vandalising a CityRail train after their team won a match on Monday night, a leaked security report reveals.

CityRail has confirmed the train, operating between Olympic Park and Lidcombe stations, was attacked but declined to blame Canterbury supporters directly for the damage.

''RailCorp can confirm that on the bump-out from the Bulldogs-Roosters match last night one of its trains was found to be vandalised with a number of windows missing,'' a RailCorp spokesman said yesterday.

''The particular train which was vandalised is an older set and not fitted with CCTV. Those responsible for this damage have not been identified.''

But an official report from the shift manager's log at the Rail Management Centre identified club supporters as the offenders.

It said a RailCorp staff member who had been at the game with his daughter and a friend had boarded the train crowded with supporters leaving Olympic Park. ''The employee reported that they had not been threatened but [he] was concerned for their safety, as the Bulldogs supporters in Car 3981 were going berserk and smashing all the light fittings and kicking out the windows, even though the Bulldogs had won the match by a convincing margin.''

A RailCorp source said rail staff had worked hard to contain the melee but were overwhelmed, although no one was injured.

The report said that as the train stalled outside Lidcombe station: ''Bulldogs supporters began jumping from the train and on to the tracks.''

Fans lit paper fires inside the carriages. The police also received a 000 call about 9.15pm on Monday reporting a fire on a train carrying fans between Belmore and Campsie.

The Bulldogs chief executive, Todd Greenberg, said he was unaware of trouble involving club supporters on Monday but promised to investigate. ''We will take the strongest possible stance against anyone who behaves irresponsibly either on the way to the game, at the game or on the way home.''

Over the past decade, Bulldog fans have been identified as being involved in riots and damage to trains, especially after matches.

RailCorp's spokesman added: ''This issue will be considered in planning security arrangements for this weekend's game between the Bulldogs and the Warriors.''

I had a similar experience after the Dogs/Panthers game on a Friday night.

I was there with the group I volunteer with - adults who have a mild intellectual disability.

The ride from Olympic Park to Lidcombe was hell.

Spurred on, encouraged and cheered on by their skanky teenage girlfriends a bunch of 'ethnic' male Dogs supporters ran riot in the carriage we were in, including punching out the lights so we were in darkness and then pushing and shoving their way through the crowded carriage time and time again.

Our members (all male) were a little spooked but OK but another young female in the carriage who obviously had a disability as well was so scared she started hyperventilating poor thing.

She was obviously a Dogs fan as her face was all painted in their colours and it was distressing to see her so upset and struggling. She should have had a great night considering the Dogs won but it was ruined.

I reckon it happens after the Dogs night games more often than not.

Reminded me yet again why I never go to Dogs home games. And our group certainly won't be attending one again either.

The problem I have with these Bulldogs fans is that they're the first ones to cry foul if you accuse them of being thugs but they do nothing to distance themselves from the stereotype.

Its common knowledge that Willie was their leader. Thats why he was in the dressing rooms, rounding up recruits.

That article was in the herald...

                      http://www.smh.com.au/news/lhqnews/d...001901596.html

Meh could be a beat up... surely police would be called if fans were bunching out lights and starting fires?

Sounds like the dogs fans to me though... their team's no better either. Didn't beat us by showing skill (Kimmorley got a big rap, but what did he do? Just tried to kick about a million 40/20's... I think maybe 1 was successful? Showed his boot was completely off and his decision making was whacked... but he could get away with it because the wooden spooners weren't even in the game.)

They won because they were a bunch of thugs who tested the rules to the max and didn't get pinged enough. Just lots of unnecessary pushing of guys who didn't even have the ball... great pressure, but they only put us away because we've got no heart or talent this season. They'll get pumped by a more skillful, innovative team I guarantee!

I doubt it was a media beat up, after what I witnessed.

The night we had problems 'transit police' made an appearance at Lidcombe station about 20 mins after the train arrived. The trouble makers had already caught their next train (on the Bankstown line surprise surprise). You could see them running amok in those carriages as well. Very relieved we were'nt going in that direction.

None of the young hoons would have been older than their teens. Neither were their skanky moles.

The boys in blue may have shown up after we caught our train.

Were you watching The Yawnion on Sat night cos you described that poor excuse of a game to a tee.

Kickpoorley ran at Sa all night. Sa showed some lateral movement for once and quickly got out of his way to open up like the Sydney Heads.

The Boggs never got out of 2nd gear, we never got out of reverse.

You have NFI. Trying to compare what we saw on the field to what some asreclowns did on trains just proves it again.

Yep... my remarks about the 40/20 attempts were definitely a reference to union...
