As good a player as Lyon is, the Titans deal meets all the criteria necessary for a very dumb buy.
Big cash
Old player
Best days behind him
There is so little upside, and so much downside, the Titans recruiters must have rocks in their heads. Given the respective money involved, if they're that desperate for a centre they'd have been better off making Champion stay.
In 2 or 3 years time, the odds of Lyon still being able to play at the level he has in the past are beyond slim. That's not the case with Jennings

If i were Lyon, I would be worried when playing outside of the likes of Sezer and Kelly. Certainly not as prolific as DCE and Foran.

The Titans recruitment over the past 2 years has been highly questionable. They just seem to be content to throw big money (which they presumably haven't got) at whoever is on the market. Or in Lyon's case, before he even comes onto the market. As someone else said, they are the new transit lounge and along with Up Up Cronulla seem intent on buying a premiership. Something the Roosters get accused of the second they show interest in a player.
No way. Lyon is 30 and wants 4 year deal. Jennings has potential to be a long term solution
The Panthers and Jennings were over a barrel which necessitated bargaining for the deal, I feel sure that Lyon will demand more for the same four years in spite of his advancing years. Lyon is the better player at the moment but for how long?
I can definately see it from your side when you put it that way.
I've got this horrible feeling that Moga will be at the Bronco's once his chooks contract is up though.
What makes you think that the kid has been in our system since he was 15 years old and extended his contract last year so why would he have any allegiance to the Gronkos.
jennings. as great as it would be to have another playmaker/kicker who is solid in defense, has no consistency and has no off field problems we need x factor! jennings for 4 years is the go
Lyon is clever for a centre, very clever in fact. But he bailed on parra and won't play origin and now he wants out of the eagles squad. I'm happy with Jenko
