  • Areas for improvement...

Hey guys just wondering which area you all think we need to improve on most from last season. All 3 areas would be nice but I'm interested to know what everyone thinks should be prioritized.

Attack- Show a bit more creativity and potency in the oppositions 20.

Defence- Have a lot more confidence that our boys can close out the game and hold onto leads.

Discipline- Not so many stupid errors or penalties that are costing us games.

IMO, either defence or discipline needs to be our priority this season... I think if we especially get our discipline right, we have enough individual brilliance to put some points on. This also reduces our defensive workload through turnovers.

we might even get some unbiased refs this season? in that case defence the key stopping a try is as good as scoring one? it worked for sticky why not for robbo?

      Defence.

If we improve on this we will go a long way in the comp. On the back of good defence the points will come, and a little help from lady luck doesnt go astray.

        chooky chookerson... great name.
i agree with the general gist of your post. i reckon the attack will take care of its self with the inclusion of jennings, maloney and sbw. the points will flow. apparently, robbo is a structure and defensive coach, so that should take care of all the unneccesary points we are leaking. however the main tester will be the discipline. can robbo instill some? time will tell.

In all honesty i think mini will be moved to the wing come origin time (fingers crossed) and I have a feeling that with a more potent back line this year, Pearce and Maloney won't be using him as an option nearly as often (again, fingers crossed lol). I may cop some hate, but I think that once mini is moved to the wing, some of the mini love will return... I believe he will make a solid return to the wing!!!

If the whole team defends like a rock & they end up being 1 of the top 4 sides defensively they will be in the semis.

I think they should look at winning games by being the superior defensive side not being the better attacking side.
If there defence is on song the opportunities for attack will come. IMO the teams like the Dragons (2 years ago) Melbourne, Manly, Bulldogs & Souths are or have been top 4 sides because of there coaches attitude towards defence. They make it the No1 priority the philosphy is if we can keep the opposition to the minimal then your team is a good chance of winning. Because the top defensive teams put in 100% effort in defence the attacking opportunities just seem to come.
Thats the reward if you put in defensively the attacking luck will come.

the dragons of two years ago didnt focus on defence.
they focused on cheating and bribing officials to make sure other teams didnt score.
