    Agreed again mate.

I hate this hemogonised even comp bullshit. Life doesn't work that way. Constantly dragging everyone down to the lowest common denominator.

    It's bad business IMO.

Dynasties became a dirty word in RL about the time News took control. Ironically they are the ultimate dynasty destroying all that dare step up to the plate. Imagine someone like a Govt dared to say with them you can't have a monopoly you have to put a cap on what you can pay your employees and what you can therefore achieve.

That's why I always felt sorry for Melba. They recruited some of the best young talent and a good young coach and developed a dynasty only to be told they had to break that group up.

It's not rewarding hard work, it's rewarding mediocrity.

    The FlogPen .

    You know it makes sense.

Geesus I hope it's Souffs and they get smashed by the ARLC.

Imagine them playing for nothing all year...it'd just like the old days for their bogan fans.

      Chook.

You can't keep a premiership squad together anymore. No way.

But I'd still rather win a premiership and have to lose a few players, than keep all our players and come 12th....

              youre exactly right BP.
just look at the premierships won sine 2000.
excluding 2007 and 2009; there have been 9 different premiers and only two team (broncos, manly) have won it more than once.
and then of course there is the storm, who cheated in order to keep their team together

exactly. in this day and age, each team plays to win the premiershp that year.

Salary caps are used by the following major sports leagues around the world:

Australia: The National Rugby League (rugby league) VFL (vicky kicky football or fumbleball), and A-League Soccer all include salary cap provisions.

North America: The National Hockey League, National Football League, Major League Soccer, National Lacrosse League, Canadian Football League, National Basketball Association and minor leagues in various sports.

England: The top-level leagues in both rugby codes—The Super League in rugby league & the Aviva Premiership in rugby union—have salary caps. Recently, several European soccer leagues have also discussed introducing salary caps.

Eurasia: The Kontinental Hockey League, based in Russia and also including teams in Belarus, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Slovakia and Ukraine, has operated with a salary cap since its creation in 2008.

France: The country's top-level rugby union league, Top 14, instituted a salary cap effective with the 2010–11 season.

In addition, the four Welsh regional sides in rugby union's Pro 12 have unilaterally adopted a salary cap effective with the 2012–13 season.
NFL salary cap is $121 million for 2013.

Yes. But which Nrl Club can generate that kind of money?

With the salary cup rising every year until atleast 2018 means they'll be able to keep champion teams together

No it wont every other team has the same amount to spend & if a certain team loses a player & they have cash freed up they move in & pay overs for players who are in winning teams. Players play for the team that pays the most.

If there was no salary cap at all then teams could dominate but most would go broke & we would end up like the EPL where only the richest teams win. So Brisbane & the Dogs would win the comp most years, no thanks.

or maybe the Lemon_Goat could buy the club and use his infinite amounts of cash to bring Jim Dymock here to coach. then we could play out of Darwin and we could finally wear those grey and orange jerseys. i dont know what a prototype is but it sounds like a funky computer

I still think if players r happy and want to build a dynasty then the amount of the new salary is good enough for them to stay,,,,,
I also think we are up there with the dogs & bronx when it comes to $$$,,,,i cant ever remember loosing a player that we really wanted stay because of another team paying more $$$

Hodges is one that I can remember, and also Quentin when he went to the force. Uncle nick was really dirty on that one. Shillo is another who would we would have wanted to keep.

Apart from that, the salary cap restraints do not directly effect those with the largest salaries but mostly our more junior players. Tamou, winterstein, etc. Players who we don't give enough faith to and instead we persist with over paid prima donnas like Mason, Anasta, etc.
                                Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,
