The cap is an unfair restraint of trade.

If I was a player, I'd be furious that there was an artificial ceiling on my earnings.

    They should pi$s it off.
    that will never happen mate.
no salary cap means all the richest teams will buy all the best players by offering them money that other teams cant.
then it'll turn in the epl, where you have the same teams at the top year after year, and the same teams at the bottom year after year. if one of your players does well, they get offered 5 times as much to play for a richer club, and they go.

I get where your coming from mate. It seems to be the biggest issue with those who are earning the most in the nrl. Your Izzy Folau's, SBW's , Khunt's all go to rival codes to better their financial future and "challenge" themselves.

I have always suggested the idea that every club should be allowed to have 2 players outside of their salary cap, and they should be allowed to earn as much as what the club is willing to pay them. I think in doing that every club would be able to keep their highest paid players, eg Us: SBW, Pearce
      Sharks: Gallen, Carney/lewis
      Tigers: Marshall/ Farah etc

The salary cap would only be counted for everyone aside from these 2 players. I think that would be a good method to trial and may save our code a lot of people who leave to rival codes/comps.
      Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

Australia: The National Rugby League (rugby league) VFL (vicky kicky football or fumbleball), and A-League Soccer all include salary cap provisions.

North America: The National Hockey League, National Football League, Major League Soccer, National Lacrosse League, Canadian Football League, National Basketball Association and minor leagues in various sports.

England: The top-level leagues in both rugby codes—The Super League in rugby league & the Aviva Premiership in rugby union—have salary caps. Recently, several European soccer leagues have also discussed introducing salary caps.

Eurasia: The Kontinental Hockey League, based in Russia and also including teams in Belarus, the Czech Republic, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Slovakia and Ukraine, has operated with a salary cap since its creation in 2008.

France: The country's top-level rugby union league, Top 14, instituted a salary cap effective with the 2010–11 season.

In addition, the four Welsh regional sides in rugby union's Pro 12 have unilaterally adopted a salary cap effective with the 2012–13 season.
NFL salary cap is $121 million for 2013.

As much as I'd love Souths to begin the season on -20 points, I just can't see how they'd be over.

Sure, Ingliss and Burgess would be on major coin, but who else could possibly see them over? I imagine Teo for Taylor would cancel that one out.

            Anyone care to have crack?

There has always been talk that their signings from England have been very dodgy.

Not to mention the Inglis farce.

makes no difference if every club can afford to spend it, and % wise your top player will still take the most of it.

If it is Souffs, it could explain PhoneChukkas sudden exit???

I must say if it is Souffs and it's as bad as The Boggs or Melba it would be the best LOL@Souffs of all time. Imagine SonicBoomBoy and his merry toofless parasites??? I'd have to find a way back on Rleague and LU just to see the meltdowns.
