i expect Robinson will play Friend in a completely different way than under Smith. i hope Robinson ensures that the other forwards tackle and take hit-ups, with multiple runners. If so, Friend won't have to do 50 tackles a game. This will free him to run from dummy half and to many punters surprise, they will see that he can play and put players in space.
Maubs - will be hitting any hole created by Friend as he is one of the best hole running forwards in the game. He'll make plenty eat humble pie this year.
FPN - if Robbo lets him offload, then we have SKD MKII on our hands, it could be magical or diabolical.
Mini - as long as he is told to keep out of the playmaking, he'll score a few backing up on the inside, however his goal line defence when the ball is on the ground will probably negate each one he scores.

Maubs played 6 games in 2011. He missed the last 18 games. How could his form possibly be bad in 2011???

He was the captain, in the centers, set up the winning try and was MOTM in round 1 2012. He was also MOTM in many of our early games in 2012, ironically from the centers, where it's been decided he can't play from.

Sure he ended last season badly. But so did the rest of the squad.

I'm yet to witness a player who hasn't gone thru a low patch of form at some stage in their careers.

Some of you have either short memories or are repeating the stuff others have written.

Ralphy i think we will see some tears if $BW is picked on the bench in round 1, where I believe he will be chosen from for the first few weeks at least.

Due to the time it'll take him to get used to the speed of the game, I think he'll be suss to a step or ball on the inside. So I would play him off the bench for at least the first month.
Also, his ability to offload will increase as the game wears on, so i'd rather he be on at the end than the start.

mini is captain, hes obviously going to be named in the squad.
maubs i have time for, he has shown how good he can be, he just needs to get his confidence back.
fpn i want farked off as soon as possible.
and those who reckon it could be skd's last year, fat chance. he is going to be a rooster for life, no matter how badly he plays.

Yep, I agree with both of ya. I think we touched on this a while back and I too believe to get the best out him for the season is to play him into it slowly. I think that will also protect us in the first few rounds against not only being shaky but also against the onslaught he will most certainly get. He is going to be a massive target no doubt.

I'll probably get eaten alive for saying it, but i reckon he is that good...i reckon whenever his first nrl game for us is, he will have a blinder.

                  Agreed mate.

It worked well with Mason the first few weeks he was with us. Everyone was so pumped to get at him we simply left him on the bench for the first 15-20 mins of games and the oppositions weren't prepared for that eventuality.

By the time he entered the fray they had lost their game plan and we lifted a cog.

One of Freddys smarter moves. Guessing Gus gave him the idea.

IMO it would work well with $BW also.

Agree with that, can't forget about how good Maubs was in 2010 with 2 decent halves and some consistent playing time in the back row. That said, where do you think he should start off the season? Cordner and Guerra were our best last year, with the talk of SBW being eased into it might be best for those 2 + Maubs to start with SBW coming off the bench.

I'm gunna cry everytime the camerman has to slow down to ensure he keeps Mini in the view finder.

Apart from that I'm not expecting us to really hit our straps until round 6-8.

                          Chook.

I think if he is fit, by that I mean no carry over injury from the fight, his overall fitness will be ok, he keeps himself in top shape, but his biggest hurdle is coming to grips with the spped of league, since he left it. He has been playing centre in union for a fair while now, and that is like a picnic in the park, to playing lock or second row in League. This will be hus biggest hurdle to overcome, in rounds 1 to 4, by then, I expect him to be up to speed, and starting to hit his straps. he'll do nice little things in the early few rounds, enough to water the taste buds, then get ready for the volcano to explode.

Cmon admit it, I know there will be at least some tears.

                              Expectations not met.

Fark crickets boring, I need some footy.

Mini & Maubs would be in my run on side with FPN as one of my bench warmers for Rd 1.

I would have JWH Friend Tasi Cordner Aubusson & SBW as my run on pack with Kennedy, FPN, Symonds & Guerra as the bench.

That's what I'd do mate, $BW on the bench for the first month at least. He can then join the game just as the opposition is beginning to tire or when we have an injury or one of the back rowers or centers is being dominated.

I just think it's the smart move.

But I won't whinge at who the coach picks, he is the man with the master plan after all.
