  • Greg Inglis to play against Roosters!

    This is bullshit.

MELBOURNE Storm NRL star Greg Inglis has been given the green light to resume playing rugby league by the club's board. Inglis is charged with assaulting his girlfriend.

Inglis has been under an indefinite playing suspension for the past two weeks after he was charged with assaulting his former girlfriend.

But the NRL club's board said today it would drop their ban.

It is likely Inglis will be rushed straight into the side to play the Sydney Roosters at Melbourne's Olympic Park on Saturday night.

In a statement on the club's website, Storm CEO Brian Waldron said:

“Given all the information we have received at this stage, we believe in fairness, and in the best interests of Greg Inglis’ wellbeing that he resumes his playing responsibilities.

“I have spoken to NRL CEO David Gallop and he has accepted the decision.

“We have demonstrated transparency regarding this matter from the outset and have continually declared our determination to allow the current judicial process to run its course.

“In no way do we expect this decision by the board to influence or interfere with the current judicial proceedings relating to the matter."

Melbourne have lost both of their NRL games since the star back was banned from playing.

Inglis appeared in a Melbourne court yesterday and while his lawyer called for the charges to be dropped, the case was adjourned until October 14.

No consistency at all and shows what a joke Gallop is.

I have no problem with it.

Just like Greg Bird - he wil beat the rap because the "victim" is going to give evidence for him.

Wouldn't say Greg Bird beat the rap as he was found guilty and has since appealed his sentence.

GI was always going to play against us so we are going to get pummled.

Still I will watch with my usual otimisim. Should last for 15 mins I hope!

                    I don't think it's an unfair decision.

Remember Sa, Earl and Friend have all been charged with assault at one stage and none of them have spent any time on the sidelines for it so far.

Neither did Cherrington for that matter, due to injury. And what he did was far worse than what Inglis has been charged with.

So why should Inglis be punished any more before his matter is settled before the courts???

Like Earl and Friend, the case is not exactly cut and dried.

Agreed... As I said before, Inglis didn't get off due to some conspiracy whereby News Corp were "cheats" (as one person said)... it's just a fact that a bunch of footy players have hit people and then subsequently been able to play. Inglis at least got suspended by his club immediately after the event was reported in the paper (News Corp's Daily Telegraph.)

In comparison to what Natepoo did its a major charge.

Nate wasnt charged by the law. But he was suspended by NewsRL for 6wks.

How do you explain the difference in what occured, and the publicity attached to both events, to kids???

It would seem its sweet to smack a female as long as you dont have the shits.

STSAE, Myles received the suspension he did because it was alcohol related, nothing more nothing less. He was also made the scapegoat for all the other indiscretions our players and coach have committed this year.

The NRL went after the Roosters with a big stick because nothing and no one was getting the message through and it seems to have worked in the short term at least. None of our blokes have been in trouble since.

Remember the NRL has always made it clear that Brett Stewart was suspended for 4 weeks for his drunkeness and behaviour, not the sexual assault charge.

Which highlights the problems News create by playing these games with being involved in running our game.

Afterall they part own Fox who heavily promote drinking thru Jim Beam ads during their telecasts.

They love the $$$$ associated with advertising grog, heavily penalise players who are drunk but DONT actually comitt a crime but excuse players who assault females who are employed in clubs who are OWNED by them.

It doesnt explain the Wankos bunning session in a dunny at a nightclub. Surely grog was involved??? But no suspensions. And surprise surprise they OWN them also.

Nah NC, its an old fashioned carve up.
