Arona gives away way too many penalties for lazy play around the ruck, apart from a bit of a before the line offload he doesn't really offer that much.

If he's not going to feature in Robinson's plans then it's better we just get him off our books. There's a trend with the players Robbo has released so far, they're all woeful defenders.
Time for a reality check, last year we let in 626 points (2nd worst in the comp). Defense is quite clearly a huge issue that we need to address, in fact I think it's the most important.

We get rid of two forwards (Masoe and Taka) and gain SBW, LOD and Moa as well as Evans, Napa, Tago from NYC and Bosden and Cherro also hopefully more in the mix this year. I hardly see us lacking any backrow depth. I don't think losing Taka will be an impact at all.

Feel a bit mixed about this one actually. I think Taka has huge potential. More than Arona. But I can see the pattern Robo is going for. I don't think it is lazy defending per say. More so lazy work ethic. As people have pointed out Taka, Mose, BJ were lazy in defending at times, but there were also times on the field they simply did not put in. And I think this is what Robo is getting rid of. If so then while disappointed, im ok with the direction. Hope it is though!
