  • Rumour Cherro to Manly??

Just saw BondiRoosters on Twitter say that talk of Cherro to Manly is going around, I think this has been rumoured before hasn't it, I'd really like to see what he can do this season in the RW&B with a full pre-season under his belt, at this rate we're going to go from having a wealth of back rowers to lacking in that department. I was also looking forward to seeing SBW's impact on Cherro & Taka, may not see either of them now!

If Tasi, Evans, Kennedy, Napa etc all have good season next year, and most of them are off contract, then we will need to release cherro next season. He hasn't played FG since our season in 09, that year the less said, the better. I think that people seriously overrate his ability to play fg successfully, especially after injuries he has had. Manly need some cheap forwards for their team, as most of their cap is full on a handful of players. Wouldn't be a bad move for cherro, or for us to let him go to Manly.

If anyone else is stupid enough to pay him, then I will pack his bags and knee braces for him.

Hope this rumour is true. The sooner we can pack him off the better - preferably before the trials so no chance of being stuck with him if he's injured again.

You can't miss what you haven't really ever had - 2008/9 was a long time ago now.

Ever since tupou left us, I saw cherro as a perfect replacement but have been extremely disappointed by his absence. Its not his fault (some on here may say karma lol) and I can't help but be interested to see how he would go on the paddock. I would hate to see him go without some idea on how he would perform with some regular game time.
However there is only so long we can keep him without getting anything in return. Every year I get excited when people mention how cherro has been killing it in the trials, but unfortunately that is where it ends...

Me too mate. I think SBW can have a huge influence on these kids. Not just on the field, but developing the right training and recovery ethic. Looking after your body the right way.

It makes me sick that they are cleaning the deck of these young guys in order to sign ODonell. U can guarantee a suspension or 2, not to mention the penaltys he gives away.

He just started to fire with the Blue Bags. With SBW not guaranteed for 2014, I would keep him for just one more year. The club has invested heavily in him, and we all know what he is capable of.

We owe cherro and symonds that matter a full season on the paddock to see what they have. If (injury free) they have flat years, Im all for moving them on but imo, that newtown backrow of bosden, symonds and cherro was absolutely electrifying and so well balanced at the end of last year when all 3 were fit and the reality is that all 3 were recovering from relatively serious injuries/lay offs so imagine what they can do with another full pre-season, some confidence and consistent footy

Here we go, treading in that same old "we owe this person" territory. I think that our managing of players, especially those with injuries is far better than that of other clubs. We give them more than a fair go financially and on the field.

In the end sentiment will only take us so far. If we're going to win comps, we will need to be harsh on some players. The first major step uncle Nick took, was getting rid of Braith "I'm shit on the footy field but a nice guy at fan days" Anasta . It would have been very hard for him to do it, but it was a necessary thing to do. I seriously cannot see Cherro and Tommy displacing anyone from our backrow atm or in the near future , QED there is no need for them in our team. With that money, even if we don't sign O'donnell, we can sign some back up halves from another team's U20s. We need depth in that area.
