You used to think I was mad for even suggesting it happens.

I have no doubt that it does.

Rubbish mate, he was caught because they had installed cameras at the top of the straight. Had nothing to do with journalism!

How could the NRL be immune when it happens in almost every major sport? Rugby League is such an easy game for referee's to influence given the amount of subjectivity involved in the decision making.

                • Hopefully we're not one of "the six clubs" being mentioned on 2GB today...that have allegedly been mixed up in the doping and maybe the other stuff as well.

Players are reportedly coming forward with information.

It was said that the Federal govt is most unhappy with the criticism it's receiving over the announcement/press conference the other day.
It was said that the Federal govt is allegedly basically saying that if the NRL doesn't name the 6 clubs that it will.

Surely our coaches or doctors or high performance trainers etc haven't been doing anything illegal.
                  Surely.
                  Surely...it can't be.
All the NRL's drug laws are crystal clear...and after all we've been thru, it just cannot be.

                  • Drugs in sport are rife. They'd have to be. How else do you explain the massive improvements in performances over the years?

On some level I admire Gould and Bennett getting their back up about the nature of the announcement last week.

But I'd be very surprised if the game was as clean as they're making out.

Having said that, every sport in every country would have the same problems.

It's just how it is these days.

                    • I'm sick of this shit already. It's the media doing a 69er on itself. It's a self feeding frenzy of catchphrases and innuendo. I'm waiting to hear the head of a sports reporter exploded when he couldn't come up with a unique superlative to describe the possibility that something may have happened to someone.

                      Chook.

                      • The announcement was a total outrage!

No names, no NRL clubs..."could have", "might in future"...blah blah blah.

"Put up, or shut up", I agree with that.

Tony Abbott for our new 'king'! the national debt $250+ billion and rising every day...must be stopped or we're all doomed.

                          • After weathering a storm of criticism from Australia's sporting leaders to name and shame the drug users identified in Thursday's explosive Australian Crime Commission report, federal Justice Minister Jason Clare said the AFL and NRL clubs involved could now out themselves.

Clare, the public spokesman for the report which details widespread drug use in Australian sport with links to organised crime, said the ACC had already given the names of teams and individuals to both of the country's biggest sporting competitions.

It followed rugby league supremos Wayne Bennett and Phil Gould slamming the vagueness of the report, saying it unfairly smeared all athletes as drug users, with suggestions the hour-long press conference was a bluff to entice people to come forward.

But Clare said the evidence was very real - and the NRL and AFL know about.

"We've given the names of the clubs to both the NRL and the AFL. And the NRL and the AFL have asked for permission to tell the clubs that are affected by the investigation," Clare told ABC television.

"The Crime Commission agrees and we're taking action to allow both the NRL and the AFL to tell the clubs that are involved in this investigation.

"And then it will be up to the clubs to put their hand up and say 'yes, we are one of the clubs that are affected by this investigation'."

Clare reiterated his claim that multiple examples across the two codes had found entire teams doping.

"The Crime Commission has given the names of the individuals to the NSW police and the Victorian police to investigate," Clare said.

"They've also given the names and the details to ASADA.

"We're not just talking about evidence that's been collected through coercive hearings, we're talking about documentary evidence that the crime commission has got as well as the use of phone taps that corroborate all of the information they've got.

"And they've made the decision that this is so serious that it's necessary to get that information out to the public that there are some cases where the whole team has been doped.

"The crime commission's work identified more than one example of that.

"I can't reveal (whether there are more than one instance of entire teams doping in each code), but what I can say is when the clubs are told that their club is one of the teams affected, they'll be able to sit down with the crime commission, the crime commission will give them as much information as they legally can."

                            • I wonder what the consequences will be?
If its individual players are we talking 2 yr?
Club doctors or sports science staff, life?
                              Coaches, life?
Entire clubs, we talking expulsion or much like the Storm will it be stripping of premiership points?
It will be very interesting to see what punishment is dished out.
We are in for a very rough ride over the next few weeks. I really really hope no one from our club is embroiled in this. We already seem to be a target for the media and if we were linked to this report in any way the "journos" will be out for blood
