davos my top 8 doesn't include Penrith but they are the team from the 8 who didn't make my 8 that I think could possibly make the 8 this year. They cant win anything but they may sneak into 8th position, I really rate Cleary as a coach.

    • The Sydney Roosters have today announced that Anthony Cherrington has been granted an immediate release from his contract to join the Penrith Panthers.

Sydney Roosters Chief Operating Officer Football, Brian Canavan, said: “The club has invested a lot of energy into Anthony following a lengthy period of repeated injuries and it is with sadness that we see him go, but we feel that this move will reinvigorate him as he attempts to find his way back to the NRL.

“We thank Anthony for his contribution to the club – especially throughout the community over the last couple of years – and he leaves with our very best wishes for the future.”

      • As Horry said last week.

        Anyway good luck to Cherro.

        • A real shame. The club invested a lot in him and he has a lot to offer if chance lets him.

It'll be worth watching the Riff this year if only to see how our discards go.

          Chook.

Totally agree. At least its to Penrith who we got Jennings from anyway (3 times the player) and penrith are pretty average

              • Still annoyed we let him go just when he seemed to be getting on top of his injuries.

I have it on good authority that he's a basket case confidence wise, so maybe a change of scenery will help him get his head sorted out.

Fair enough. I guess he must feel like every time he takes the field / training paddock these days, one of his knees may collapse under him.

Having had two reco's on the one knee, it's very easy to lose confidence in that joint and favour it without noticing you're doing it. While I don't think I show a limp, I actually do and there is very little I can do about it. I would never have confidence in it to play League so I do sympathise with him. It's just a shame he might kick on at another club.

                      Chook.

Over time I have realized who to trust regarding information and who not. The most reliable person here says he is going so that is good enough for me.
Well he did rate quite a lot higher than than in your estimate as it has now been announced on the roosters website!

                        • was interesting listening to Cherro's interview on channel nine tonight, he was saying his body felt great but his confidence is shot after so many injuries.

                          • After multiple concussions due to his uncompromising tackle technique Dane Atkinson took a year off to clear his head and is back in great health and in England at the present. I spoke to his uncle and he has been traveling, he's in great nick and considering his playing options. His physical stats are 6'4 and 110 kg with ball skills to burn. One of the best defenders getting around, but needs to adjust his tackle technique and show some self preservation if he comes back into the game. He shot gunned Blair's defensive edge right through junior reps and 20's. Parra and Cheyse could well do with Dane right now.
