Its a great result particularly before the season has begun. I know some will argue that they would rather him 'play' for his contract for the most part of this year but I think that attaches even greater risk to our chances of keeping him. Its not like in his 100+ first grade games and myriad of rep performances he hasnt shown enough to warrant retention. Judging by his pre-season as well I think its an even better move as this shapes as his first year in a fully fledged leadership capacity ever at the club both on paper (VC) and in reality (no Braith to get in his way in the halves - he can finally take ownership) and he seems to have his head screwed on as well.
Well done management. Basically every key player has been secured before the season has begun. While Id love to see us keep the majority of the other off-contract players, our big players (RTS, Pearce) are already locked away which is fantastic!

It brings me great satisfaction that he stuck by his team mates and the club by not walking out last year after the Dramas.
Unlike Perrett, he showed loyality to his team mates by sticking it out and going down with the team and starting fresh with the boys at the start of the season. he will definitely enter the 300 club with the one club and soon enough guide the team to a premiership.
What makes me laugh even more harder is that Cheaterbury were going hard for him and Thurston in which they will miss out on both and are shopping out their current halfbacks....

I find it hard to share the enthusiasm of everyone else, I'm sorry.
This is a crazy deal for a kid who has had an exalted ride through his career on the back of his last name.
I still don't think he's proven himself as a top-of-the-line halfback.
Can you ever recall him taking a game by the scruff of the neck, picking the team up when it's down and inspiring a victory? Or even just patches of consistent form?
I hope he comes good and I know he's only young still but that's a massive deal if what he dishes up over the next five years is what we've seen over the past five years.
