Im not condoning it in fact quite the opposite all Im saying is that to say we arent going to win the comp because of our 'spine' when not only are there so many other important factors (all of which we have absolutely covered imo) and worse teams have done it in recent times with worse spines, but; you would be referring to the potential NSW halves pairing, a 23 y/old hooker with close to 100 games of fg under his belt with rep opportunities around the corner and a former golden boot winner who although no longer the player he used to be, adds invaluable experience and stability into a backline already brimming with potency and talent - surely jennings, SKD, RTS, Moga and co provide enough strike power of their own?

With the talent that Robo has been given he is a very lucky rookie coach. I'm expecting to see some quality footy.
        Cannot wait!

Brian Smith could have won a comp with this roster.

Mate I don't think Brian Smith will ever win a comp,in any sport. He would have had these players heads spinning all year.

The only thing I'm worried about is combinations. That's the big issue for me,whether the boys have had long enough together to gel properly. If they have, we are going to surprise alot of teams this year for sure.

Robbo is saying all the right things and the players seem impressed by him but I wouldn't be tearing his contract up if we under achieve, ie miss the 8. I think we make the 8 comfortably personally.

LOD is a mystery for me. I hope we don't get a 32 yr that plays 1 in every 6 games and hope we are not paying a premium for him. While he will add toughness and experience to the forward pack, will he be holding back a spot from some of our young talent

It wasn't Manly's spine that won them the comp either (although their's was still good). Cohesion, tactics, fantastic backrowers and confidence were paramount.
Making Steve Naughton look like Vince Mellars...

I actually think it has the reverse effect. I doubt he will play every game this year meaning a young player will get at least a few opportunities in his place to show what they have got. The fact he is 32 means he hasnt got too many years left in him at all which would not discourage these young players/make them want to leave but instead make them want to learn and buy them a little time to further develop while in the short-term giving our pack exactly what it needs - a battle-hardened warrior.

well i must admit, if trent wants some one he get them....lod played one game v st helens and the won and didnt front up v the brocos. which the giants flogged them. so i dont know if lod was injured or if he was stood down til his future was finalized. hasnt played much footy in the previous year.

and by the way if cherro is off to the riff there is still nothing anywhere in the riff den, or league unlimited.

Every part of the field has somebody who can create excitement!!!!

Last year NOBODY could create excitement. Our best players for a while have been guys like Pearce/Mini who are safe and talented but offer no x-factor.

During Origin EVERYBODY gets revved up when Jennings touches the ball. SBW is the most known NRL AND rugby player. Sheck vs Morris... BOOM!!! Can't wait. JWH & LOD will MENNACE respectable forward packs.

Then we have Pearce and Maloney in the middle. Realistically they could be the first winning NSW Origin pairing in a looooong time!!!!

To quote Big Kev... I'M EXCITED!!!!
Hahaha glad to see I'm not alone ism!!

The other good thing is that I think we have the majority of this squad (or the ones who really matter) at the club for the next few years. It doesn't have to happen this season like a lot of people are saying. I can only see this team getting better and better over the next 2-4 years! Hopefully it will be a successful period at our proud club

I'm excited, so much so that I got on the Roosters to win the NRL and Carlton to win the AFL at $185, so with my wager of $100 if both teams win I pick up a nice $18,500.

We probably won't win this year ( I predict the Cowboys), but if we make the 8 (which I think we will) the talent in our squad means anything is possible.

Anything is possible with our squad and whilst I don't think we win the premiership, it definitely wouldn't surprise me if we did!

On the other hand, Carlton are nearly no chance of winning the AFL imo. They always show promise but rarely deliver and I still think they're a long way behind the hawks, swans, eagles and pies!

But, good luck to you Funky!!!
