    lmao - classic O'Donnell

    circa 3min.

    Came in like a missile.

    EDIT: More classic 'hamstrings' moments

Looks like he was punching anyone who was not wearing blue.

    Great hit 00:50

Really excited about this signing. Everything that's new about the team has me excited actually. Just hope it clicks on the field.. Nervous times until we start winning games.

O'Donnell was purchased for the sole reason to intimidate opposition forwards.

As long as it stops embarrassing moments like:

          FaDrongo/Anasta/Toups
          G.Stewart/Anasta elbow at SFS
          Burns/Kennedy
          Sandow/SKD

          Then i'll be satisfied.

If he gets 10 weeks for planting one of Isaac Luke's' chin in Round 1 then his signing is definitely worth it.

I'm a sucker for old-school, tough footballers and they certainly don't get tougher than Luke.

from what im hearing cherro had a few off field indiscretions last year that didnt make the press. also hearing that him and sbw dont get along.

as for LOD time will tell but 32 for a backrower is a little old. however the only guys in our team over 25 are mini, LOD, sbw, moa and skids (26 this year) so adding LOD doesnt really effect our youth policy. his experience and mongrel def balances out the team mind you i would have preferred dallas johnson or luke lewis anyday of the week.

They didn't waste any time falling out....Sonny Jim has only been training with the team for about 5 minutes.

Scratching my head as to how they would've had any previous associations, different ages, different clubs, no rep teams together, doubt they would've played against each other, sounds a bit curious to me, then again it could be complete bulls hit!

                      I suspect they probably want him to also;

                      tackle
                      gain yards with the ball
provide leadership to the younger players

                      a dud signing imo though

I understand the intimidation factor and the hard head to guide the young forwards and all that. And I can see merit in that.

But the guy is injury prone - check out his record over in the ESL the past few years - and a penalty magnet. The injury problem isn't going to get any better as he is 32 years old. And when he went to the UK he went reluctantly because he was sick of being a marked man by the refs. I seem to remember reading an article on that at the time?

I am not excited by this signing, though I hope he proves me wrong.

Who would you suggest we sign to offer those things you mentioned plus aggression mate???

I can't see where Taka or Cherro have offered any of those attributes in the past. Maybe Taka gained yards with the ball on a few occasions. I did see his poor defensive reads cost us at least one game though.

It may very well prove to be a dumb signing. But on your list of reasons you suspect he was signed alone, I can't see how.

He certainly offers more of those attributes than the two said to be moved on for him.

                            The FlogPen .

                            You know it makes sense.

Cant argue with that,,,,,i know some guys mite think well what about when SBW & LOD leave and that we should of kept Taka & Masoe but by then Kane Evans dylan Napa & Cordner will take over and do a better job then say if we kept Masoe & Taka
I like what you did there!

And as you said with SBW staying now for 2 years our youngsters should be taking over at that stage. Not to mention a fair chunk of cash being freed up in which we can buy a few class players.

                                I totally agree.

Now of course more then anything I want to win, and of course I know discipline is important, and I know a costly penalty can turn or decide a match.

It makes me cringe though watching my team not stand up for themselves. It's happened too much over the years with us (as you've mentioned above.) Hopefully it won't happen anymore.

Yes O'Donnell is probably past his best, yes he's injury prone and yes he may get suspended. But he plays the game with an intensity, that in my opinion, will benefit the team.

The fact that getting O'Donnell has only meant losing Jets reserve graders makes it all the better
