  • Foundation Cup team lists

    1 Tim MOLTZEN
    2 Marika KOROIBOTE
    3 Blake AYSHFORD
    4 Chris Lawrence
    5 Matt UTAI
    6 Benji MARSHALL
    7 Jacob MILLER
    8 Keith GALLOWAY
    9 Robbie FARAH
    10 Jack BUCHANAN
    11 Braith ANASTA
    12 Bodene THOMPSON
    13Adam BLAIR

    14 Masada IOSEFA
    15 Matthew BELL
    17 Liam FULTON
    18 Joel REDDY
    19 Ben MURDOCH-MASILA
    21 James TEDESCO
    22 Eddy Pettybourne

apart from Farah a pretty average foward pack for the tigers, Koroibote/Lawrence/Marshall will give our outside backs a good test of Robbo's new defensive scheme.

only thing we know about our side is O'Donnell will play 20 minutes (Robbo announced that at the press conference today)

Beats me how Moltzen continues to retain a position at fullback. He's a decent half who never really got his chance under Sheens but surely he wont see out 5 rounds at fullback.

would of thought we would be bombing the crap out of Utai with Tupou opposing him

I agree, I think once Tedesco comes good he will struggle for a spot. If he had followed through with his agreement 18months ago (or whenever it was) to play for the dragons, he may have had a bit more stability this year. Then again, I dont think anybody wants to be playing for the dragons this year lol

you have to scratch your head when that tigers team put 40 on the Eels

will be keeping an eye on the warriors vs broncos trial on foxsports on saturday as we play them in rounds 2 and 3

I actually think Moltzen is a decent player.

I dunno, a couple of good additions in Thompson and Pettybourne

Guys at work raving about that Jack Buchanan - former Dragons NYC prop and captain

That back-row of Braith Anasta, Adam Blair and Bodene Thompson looks particularly weak. I know Mick Potter has insisted that they concentrate on their defence but their pack isn’t as formidable or one that screams high work rate. I can see some of our forwards getting some easy metres. Its still a trial though so i expect alot of changes especially given the seven man bench named by the Magpies.

Their backline is still their strongest point, I think Marika Koroibote has the potential to be anything on the wing.

I think we match up well against the Tigers and if its going to be an open style game i believe we have the forwards and defence to do them over.

Again its only a trial – I still want the W though.

Not as a FB. Take Benji and Farah out of the tigers, and you have one of the worst and most overrated teams in the history of the NRL. Lawrence and Ayshford are seriously overrated, as are most of their forward pack. And how did they fix that problem last year........ they signed the one player who has won the overrated player award 3 years running.

I read somewhere, I think it was last season or the season before, that 80% of their trys come through Benji Marshall setting up plays. Can you imagine how funny it would be if Benji got injured and Bwaiff had to slot in at 6. I don't think that they'll ever score a try again.

They do have some young hope in Koribette ,Tedesco and Woods. But they are still very green. Their biggest problem was getting rid of Players who had been around for ages and given their club an identity. The heighington's, Ryan's and Gibbs's of the team have all gone and this team list doesn't really have the same ring to it.
                    Comment of the year:

Andrew Johns, Semi-Final vs North Queensland ,

"It's touched Lui's hand and travelled forward but that's not a knock on"

Would you prefer Mini or Moltzen at fullback?

Is there a fullback in the comp you wouldn't take over Mini?

                            From NRL.com

Gains: Braith Anasta (Roosters), Jack Buchanan (Dragons), Masada Iosefa (Panthers), Eddy Pettybourne (Rabbitohs), Bodene Thompson (Titans).

Losses: Gareth Ellis (Hull FC), Chris Heighington (Sharks), Junior Moors (Storm), Beau Ryan (Sharks).

This time last year Wests Tigers were hot premiership favourites. They’d been semi-finalists in 2010 and 2011, and welcomed forceful Adam Blair from the Storm. It was a dream team – thundering big forwards and super-slick backs. They looked good… but that’s as far as it went.

And although they won their first round game against Cronulla (in golden point), their fortunes went the way of rookie James Tedesco’s knee – shot as if by poison dart.
Surely it must get better. Actually, scratch that – it will get better. Look at the names: Anasta, Ayshford, Blair, Farah, Fulton, Galloway, Lawrence, Marshall, Moltzen, Pettybourne, Sironen, Tedesco, Tuqiri, Utai, Woods. It’s an all-star cast, a crack outfit.

Yet they were last year too. Why should it be different?

Simple: new players, new coach (in Mick Potter) and new attitude.

Lucky for us they have left a few key players out for the foundation cup

In their first team they are replacing Heighington & Ellis with Anasta and one of Thompson/Pettybourne.

                              That's a massive downgrade.
