I think one of the reasons people don't rate Arona is due to Brian Smith using him in the prop rotation at times. He looks way too small. I don't mind him. He is a no frills player so probably doesn't rate a lot of praise. Except for a few dropped balls he is okay. Hopefully he can keep improving. Every guy in the squad can't be a star.

Arona brings value for money.

He would be on peanuts but performs well above that.

You need some hard-working Nevilles to compliment your flashier players. If he gives us a solid 40 every week with 8 runs and 20 tackles I will be happy. His defence in the middle 3rd is very good.

I agree every team needs a no-frills hero and those stats of 8 Runs and 20 Tackles for non missed to plug holes is worthy of a bench spot if he can produce. At Full strength he would struggle to make the top 17 but he is a good squad player.

We already had a Tom Symonds type player in Guerra/Aubbo. In saying that i hope the blood nut isn't off to Womanly.

I agree he is a local junior so would always prefer to come back to us anyway so England would be perfect. This is what the eels had Mateo do as well - instead of languishing in NSW cup, go and get some decent game time abroad and come back bigger and better. The tigers also recently did it with Fulton. Good player but. I dont agree he hasnt shown/done enough with his chances. Imo every time he got into the team, he was a crucial cog and was merely struck down by some form of injury every time.

Fulton was very good last year, really developed his ball playing whilst overseas.

I think playing on the fringes is definitely his go.

As for Symonds He canm play but has had bad luck with injurys His last game for us aaginst Manly he looked very dangerous He will do very well in England

i think this on top of Cherri is a bit of an attack on our limited juniors, not exactly a beacon to our jnrs hopefully coming through, on sat night we line up against another jnr in ayshford, heres hoping hes well bested by our big money imports?

With Symmonds, Cherro and Taka all gone our depth will be tested. LOD will probably only play one year. SBW is 2 years max.
I would have let go of Arone before any of the above mentioned players.

You can pretty much count on one hand the amount of FG these 3 played the last 2 years. Does absolutely nothing to our depth.

We have 500 local juniors. Penrith has over 10,000.

The odds of getting a good one are minute.

I'd rather have good players in the team than local juniors for the sake of it, which Symonds was for mine.

Wow, seriously ? Taka must have played a hell of a lot. I can't remember Cherro or the big red playing any games recently.

I still think that we have enough depth in the backrow.

Arona, FPN, Aubo, Martin, Siejka, Bosden (if fit), Tago , and I think Langi may have played some backrow in his days. So I don't feel too bad about letting Taka, Chero and Tommy go.

Langi has absolutely no experience in First Grade and hasn't even put together a good season in the 20's yet.

So that leaves us with; LOD, Arona, Bosden, Guerra, Aubbo, Boyd, FPN & SBW.

To me it just seems a little light, especially with quite a few players who are prone to injury there. 8 is the bare minimum most teams should have imo. Wouldn't surprise me at all if LOD played in the front row either.

I'd like to think we'd hold onto Symonds.
