      That's a big statement IMO.

I've seen Maubs win us games from both centre and the back row late in games when we have needed to win under pressure.

Personally I believe Guerra has more to prove than Maubs.

But we are all entitled to our opinions, all good.

Thing is mate I see them both as footballers, not athletes.

I can recall both players actually winning us games from various positions on the field.

I believe every team needs a Mr Fix It. Someone who can mid game slot in anywhere and still perform. Genuine footy players.

You must admit Maubs has given us much better value on the park than Taka and Cherro combined??? Sure he may not have the physical attributes of those sort of players but he can be relied on to get it done when it counts.

You seem to be living in the past a bit mate, I haven't seen Maubs do anything much of note for at least a year or two, at least not on a consistent basis & geez he had a shocker on Saturday night!!

Pearce. It's time he fired. He likes the coach and has had his best off-season he reckons.

Well I am of the opinion that form can be a fleeting thing and it can be affected by many variables, coaching, injuries, teammates, personal life etc.

But when a player proves he can do the job in 1st grade over a few seasons I believe he can get back to top form. Unless of course it's purely physical, like Mini, where the body won't allow it anymore.

That's why I like footballers over athletes. Once an athlete loses their physical abilities they struggle to compete. Footballers get smarter usually, they adapt and get the job done, like Locky did at the end, and many others too.

Last season is past. Many players have a good first season and crumble once found out. Longevity will always win out over instant success.

As I've said before, Maubs captained us in round 1 last year to a great win. He won a handful of MOtM awards in the first few months, a lot of them were our early wins, remember we ran at 4 and 2 over the first 6 rounds. He also played very little in 2011 due to injury.

His run of bad form (and he was far from alone) was from mid last year till near the end of the season. I saw signs at the end of the old Maubs. I'm yet to see ANY player not go thru a run of bad form at some stage in a career. It's just part of the deal.

Trials are where you get out the cobwebs, I don't read a lot into them personally.

That said if after a few rounds he's playing like a gimp I will be the first to question his position in the top grade.

If you think about it $BW hasn't played RL for 5 years but we all rely on him having the same impact as he once possessed in the game. Same can be said for players returning from SL or others who have come back from Yawnion, we all live in the past with their deeds.

I'm sure the coach would've told everyone last year is over, it starts from day 1 of preseason, and everyone has to perform or else they will be at Henson.

Like all our players I won't dismiss them so easily especially proven performers.

I'm a big Maubs fan. I hope he will recapture the form I know he's capable of this year. You've got to remember he's been carrying a few injuries over the past few seasons too.

I wouldn't give up on Maubs but he needs to get bigger to play in the forwards.

Fair enough to stsae & other's opinions, I would love to see him hitting holes like he used to, unfortunately as I get older my memory gets shorter, so I might need to see him do something again sooner than later!

                        Agreed BA.

Like the rest of them, there are no excuses now, the coaches are new, we have alot of depth especially in the backrow and we have plenty of strike players to hit or to be hit from, it's time everyone stepped up.

I'm hoping passengers become a thing of the past at the club again. And excuses. And agendas.

                          Ditto.

I've had a gut full over the last few years.

How good would it be if this year our team actually came to be relied on to turn up & compete every single week, the last few years have been a lottery, so much so that I'd watch the first 20 minutes & only know then if they were going to be competitive or not.

Pretty much like our game plan (or lack thereof) has been. I think you'll see a far more disciplined defensive structure this year if the trial against Manly is anything to go by.

I like the fact we now have some decent speed in the backs as well and if the halves can combine well we should be competitive for the 80 minutes. Lots more positives than negatives with the list and coaching staff we now have.
"Do you expect me to talk"? "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die".

                                Comment of the year:
