After seeing our trial form and knowing that we still have SBW to come into our side, he feels very threatened by our chances this year and will sink to the lowest of the low (which I must say is a regular thing for the alcoholic) to try anything he can to destabilize us. Was there even a salary cap back in '91 ? If not then what's it matter if he was paid by cash back then.
I hear Dally Messenger got paid two schillings received in a paper bag too. Surpirsed that wasn't mentioned in his article ...just as relevant !
Bobby Goulding ... what a fine upstanding, credible source he must be. Did he ever pay for the damages when he trashed his hotel room before he left back for England ?

AN OFFICIAL investigation has been launched into the bizarre drunken behaviour of French coach Bobby Goulding at the International Rugby League Player of the Year awards.
Four Nations officials are looking into several incidents, including an alleged kidney punch to referee Steve Ganson as well as threats made to England team manager Graeme Thompson and an Australian journalist.
"We are aware of the incidents and we are looking into them," a Four Nations spokesperson said.
The Daily Telegraph witnessed much of Goulding's astonishing post-dinner tirade after the official part of the evening and when most of the guests and players had left.
With glass of champagne in hand, the former Great Britain halfback harassed and threatened sponsors, guests and journalists. He also punched Ganson in the kidneys, much to the amazement of those saw it.
He had to be restrained by embarrassed French captain Olivier Elima on several occasions, and earlier was seen pointing at Thompson and heard to say: "Keep looking at me like that and I will take your f ... ... head off."
When contacted for a response, all Goulding would say was: "An investigation into what? Nothing happened." He then hung up the phone.
RFL chief executive Richard Lewis did not return calls, but it is understood the England camp is furious about Goulding's threat to Thompson and wants firm action taken. French Federation secretary-general Herve Guiraud was also unavailable for comment, but there is immense pressure on French officials to sack Goulding.
Last November, Kangaroos coach Ricky Stuart resigned after he abused referee Ashley Klein and RFL referees boss Stuart Cummings the day after his team's shock loss to New Zealand in the World Cup final.
One of England's shining lights on the field during the 1990s, Goulding was appointed French coach in February and his team displayed promising signs during the Four Nations tournament. They started all of their matches against England, New Zealand and Australia strongly, before falling apart in the second half.
After his team's 42-4 loss to Australia at Stade Charlety in Paris at the weekend, Goulding passionately spoke about his side's renaissance.
"French rugby league is back on track," he said. "Things are going to start changing. We're going to be meeting every six weeks, maybe a squad of about 30, just to keep getting together.
"Maybe a couple of beers if Ollie (Elima) allows it. We need to keep the spirit together. This is only the start."
Goulding has carried a party boy reputation throughout most of his playing and coaching career. In 1993, his contract with the Sydney Roosters was terminated after he allegedly trashed a hotel roomWritten and published on behalf of the Liberal Party, Queensland

There was....the Canberra Raiders were found to be that way over the cap in 1991, but the ARL swept it under the carpet at the time.
