Was he really that bad or was I watching a different game to everyone last night?

I thought he really put his body on the line in defence which was a nice change, didn't make any stupid errors and almost scored a try with his usual evasive skills.

Didn't set the world on fire which wasn't really surprising given our lack of ball movement due to the weather conditions but he didn't really do a whole lot wrong either?

People just looking for a replacement for Braith or was he genuinely that bad...?

He wasn't one of our best. That said - if Toupu hadn't scored, he'd be looking pretty shit today with 3 handling errors, and SKD wouldn't be such a focus.

i thought he was bad. Dropped the ball with the line wide open and on anther occasion from close range cut inside when he had his winger unmarked. Just think he needs to lift to hold his spot. He and the rest of the outside backs will benefit from our halves and SBW finding holes for them but SKD must take advantage of this.

Toupu has only played a handful of 1st grade games so he is still learning. SKD has played in a GF and test matches, he still makes too many dumb mistakes

Some just like bagging out "Rocks and Diamonds" because he's an easy target and those who are easily manipulated join in the fun because they don't have original opinions of their own. Yes, he still ran sideways blah blah blah but seriously, the whole side was a million percent better already from last year so quit your whining. And if you are going to start threads bagging players, at least spell their names correctly...It's Shaun, not Sean...

Hasn't had a great game since the 2010 preliminary final.

              Put Sonny-Bill in the centres.

I agree with this. Let Sonny start the season in the centres while he adjusts and SKD can start the season at Newtown.

I think because of the conditions last night it's a hard game to judge anything really. You can only compare team performance against the other team an individual performance against other individuals. So while he looks to have improved his defensive game a lot from where it was at last year he still played poorly when compared to other Roosters players. He certainly should've scored that try at the end and probably should have put his winger in earlier when we looked certain to score. His played his role in the new defensive systems that TR has implemented but still has that weak attempt at tackle in him. He hardly saw any ball all night because it was so wet so I think the real test will be against Souths where I think he'll be lining up against Matt King/Beau Champion (?) and granted its been dry through the day he'll see a lot more ball, finishing some set plays off Pearce, plus he'll have a lot more space when SBW comes on. Again, while it's hard to judge exactly how hard it was to defend out there last night with the limited ball movement he only played a role in one Tigers line break that did not lead to a try which is a definite improvement. If you asked people what they wanted him to improve it would 90% of the time be his defence and that has seemed to have happened so far so we shouldn't be ripping on the bloke to hard.

As you said. He's the new Braith on here unfortunately.

                        Yep.

People going on about the try he went back inside instead of passing it need to go back and have a look at a) how slow the ball got out to him, b) how he had to change his line to catch the ball and c) when he caught he was off balance and nowhere near position to throw a decent pass because of a and b.

Finally, good luck to anyone who has to ever defend inside Oldfield.

Can you give us a similar analysis on the ball he dropped with the line wide open?

I think it is more a case that some people tolerate consistent poor performances and others don't and for others as long as they smile nicely and chat to fans after the game/at fan days, they don't care what they do on the field.
