I have Morts ahead of Nafe in the pecking order.
I agree that it's a game by game call on if he plays though. Some games may need a 4 forward rotation on the bench.
Stick around Morts, big things are happening at the chooks mate

I wouldn't have morts in the same street as seluini...missed opportunity for us I think.

I'm sure robbo knows better than me though so its good luck to Dan.

its nice to see we have not only quality depth in certain positions but also different varieties to play those positions.

sel is awsome from the dummy scoots, also his first marker defence job he does so well. needs a bit more match time to develope into something fcuken awsome. he will be a future star and i hope it is with us. he is a 6 disguised as a 9

morts has the work horse mentality, can read games , kicks and if needed can do the 80 mins.

so against certain teams we need a certain utility. heavy teams like dullbogs, souffs, riff and titts i would use sel , just for his foot work with the ball, his support plays and the second phase he offers.

while with morts he is more the skilled player suited for the 17 completions from 19 styled games. where the weight and longevety of the forwads isnt a weakness. a skillful and fast team like the cheats, cowards, the old merge and even wests(x braith of course).

Mortimer is a natural footballer, as is Maloney. Any comparison on merit with Seluini would be akin to weighing up Freddy Fittler with Jim Dymock.

He played 5/8 last year in round 1 against Souffs didn't he??? Seemed to handle the workload against Souffs pack.

IMO Morteins defence is underrated, it was an area he surprised me in last season. And I also believe it's better than Nafes defence.

            The FlogPen .

            You know it makes sense.

Everyone should try as hard as Morts does and we'd be unbeatable.

                Ditto.
Imagine a team full of attitudes like this

I'd like nothing more that for Morts to find a role at Easts.

                  You gotta admire him.

For sheer dedication and support play, he deserves a crack.

I reckon his role - assuming we can afford the bench spot - is to replace Friend for the third quarter.

                  Seemed to work last week.

Good to hear that he is gunning for the utility spot as I think this is the only way he will secure a spot in the NRL.
As others have said, he seems to have a great attitude and every time he plays I'm always impressed by his support play! Good luck to him and hopefully he can have a successful year with us

Mortimer is a quality half who is probably better than 1/2 the guys other teams have to use. Examples:
                        - Dragons using Fien/Drinkwater as a half?
                        - Raiders... Williams and McCrone aren't as good IMO. Campese will be back one day but until then...
                        - Parra (the guys who got rid of him?!?) puzzle me because they are stuck with Sandow.

I could go on but crux is he's a really good player who last season just sat around winning the NSW Cup for us (on a $200k+ NRL salary.) He's of the standard that he's too good for NSW cup and has confidence!!!

I think the issue is that coaches don't show faith/confidence in him!!!! I dunno why... maybe because he doesn't have tats and is a well mannered boy so gets punted from the pecking order for being too "nice"... it really puzzled me why Braith got to wreck our team last year when we knew he was leaving!!!!

Whenever he was away Mortimer stepped up and delivered the goods, but that never earned him anything?

                          He isn't slow Tony.

Credit to the kid for understanding that this is his best chance of playing in the NRL. He has great footy instincts and is a good broken field/support player. He just lacks the skill and size to be a first grade halve but I think he is a good player to have in your squad.

                            He certainly isn't quick, Fitzy

He'd want to start running off SBW.

But then, so would everyone else.
