Evans is a long way back coming off the bench in NSW Cup.

I saw them train a couple of weeks ago too.

They looked sharp indeed.

In saying that, it is training and there is no pressure.

Either way, they will be very hard to beat.

We may take a few weeks to get going. Thursday's match may be a bit soon to be honest.

this is one game at the start of a very long season. Sure a win would be nice, but I'll be very happy to see commitment and structure

Realistically, Robbo has not had sufficient time to turn this team into the unit he wants. We will be a better team in the back-end of this season than we will be up front. Expect a few dissapointments in the first half of the season. As long as we are in the mix by the midway point I'll be pretty happy. Injury permitting, I expect us to finish this year significantly stronger than we start it.

In short, don't get too carried away just yet. We will be pumped, and are a fair chance to beat the rabid filth that is Souffs .... we always are. But just remember this team is a work in progress. SBW, Jennings & LOD are all very recent arrivals. Their transition into the teams new structures will take time. Even the guys that have been there forever are now learning different structures and plays. Not to mention having to un-learn some of the more destructive habits of the last couple of seasons.

I'm very optimistic about this season, but please, we are not going to sail through this comp unchallenged ... and that includes tomorrow night.

That said, bring on the filth ....

we all know the souths pack will try & smash us in the first 30mins, Maubs is too small to hack the initial onslaught, I could be wrong...he could be more useful once the game settles...

Guerra is tough enough, so is FPN, & it should be LOD if SBW is a pussy.

Hopefully not, Smith did nothing but play games when he was here.

As for Aubs, he'd want to show a lot more come Thursday night than he has in the trials.

I for one aren't underestimating Souths, they are a good side. However, if we can gain the early ascendancy their (Souths) heads may well drop. I'll go the Roosters by 14 points.

We will need to limit the Rabbits momentum early in the tackle counts. Inglis kick returns followed by Burgess/Asotasi up the middle could get them over the half way line on the first 3 tackles quite easily. Pressure will be on our kick chase and defence in the centre. If we can get these right, there is plenty of skill in our line up to put points on them.

Big games required by JWH, Kennedy and Samoa.

I'd like to see Pearce/Maloney put the ball dead as much as possible. Even if it means giving Souths a 22 tap.

thought they changed that rule, that if the ball goes dead after being kicked outside the 30m line, that u get the ball back from where it was kicked from? Or eas that just a trial?
