This guy gives 110% each week & cops a bagging on here...

I would like to see him change his game plan & perhaps run more from dummy half, put the defence in 2 minds as to what he's going to do, but until more of his team mates help out & share the load in defence, i'm glad for every minute he plays...
2 penanlties is too many, regardless of how many tackles he makes. Compare him with Smith 40/0 (T/P), Ennis 43/1, McCullough 37/0, Ballin 43/1, Luke 25/0, Taylor 40/1, Keating 32/1.

He needs to get it out of his game.

The speeding up of the play the balls which are being targeted by the refs do not suit Jake Friends style of play imo.

When Ant Mitchell played at 9 he highlighted how painfully slow Jake's service is. Add to that his lack of penetration and the way he gets carried by attackers in defense, and unfortunately you have one of the least effective hookers in the comp

Those who suggest Jake is somehow next in line for Cam Smith's Qld position are kidding themselves

interesting to watch Mel bourn-agains, 3 in a tackle, last one in pulls ankle tackler to feet and pushes back on side while he and the tackler up high are regaining their feet.

he gives more penalties because he does much more work, therefore there is more opportunity for him to give them away. the average penalty count per team is slightly over 5 per game. someone has to be the bad guy.... everyone should be pissed when our backs or interchange bench give them away as they do a lot less work

He tries very hard but he is still not good enough. He has no pace & he cant read the play. Players like Smith, Ballin, Luke, Farah, Ennis, De Gois even Kingston can all read the play & put the opposition in 2 minds.

IMO Mortimer has more ability than what Friend does. Defensively he doesn't match Friend but attacking wise he has a much better idea of reading the play & being able to then act on it. Again IMO having Mortimer at dummy half would have opposition teams in 2 minds.

Jake Friend is a toiler but the Hooker position has become so important in the modern game that being a tackling machine is not enough of a skill set to have in first grade.

As I've said, If we can get a decent 7 and 9 we'd win the premiership. Whilever we have rubbish in those positions we're no chance.

I think Seluini is ahead of Morts, in the NSW cup last yr he stood out and won games off his back morts did not.

We can't buy a superstar in every position. I think we have the personnel to win a premiership in the next 2-3 years. Patience is required. If we lost SBW next year I would splash out on a playmaking hooker but that's it.
