No, I'd rather see RTS at fb but I don't think the FB is as crucial as the half and rake.

Ok, so in the scenario that Friend performs very ordinary over the next few months and the club decides that we need to replace him, who do we replace him with? Do we go all out for the best under 20's hooker and take a punt on him? Is there a gun in rugby union or the English Super League we should chase? I wouldn't imagine that we would be any chance of getting Cameron Smith, how about maybe someone like a Matt Srama or is Nathan Peats from $ouff$ worth it as I am quite sure that he is off contract at the end of this season? The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!
Here's looking at you, kid.

If off contract and Friend doesn't improve( which I don't think he will unfortunately) then Peats would be a good buy

I have everything crossed though that Friend has a great season for us this year, we really need him to! I would just love to see what Friend can do in a side that has at least 50% possession, if not more heaven forbid. It seems like just about every game for the past few years we are always on the bad side of the ledger when it comes to time in possession, and this of course is going to really hinder Friend as it means more defensive work which takes away from his attack and less opportunities for him to attack.
When it comes to Peats, if Friend does have a good season and we stick with him, we can still look to get him, if we truly want to.The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

In the meant time we need to be smart and play Friend for 25-30 mins, then bring on Mortimer who plays the last 10-15 of the first half and the first 15mins of the second half before being replaced by Friend for the rest of the game.

However, he has a lot of players aiming for him to tire him out. An easy fix is to give him a 10 min break/relief by moving him to 2nd row and letting Morts/Selluini a burst where they give there all.
Friend and morts 50 / 50 game time.Last edited by G-Unit Guerra; 03-11-2013, 10:05 PM.

Jake Friend gives 110%. I don't think anyone doubts that. I just don't think he makes good decisions. A couple times the other night we were 5 metres out, had the backline set out to the left, with SBW waiting, and he went right, to the blindside. Opportunity gone.
Friend needs to do whatever he is told by his 6 and 7. Give them the ball. He is not a playmaker and does not have the football brain of the clever dummy halves. Tackle your guts out and give the ball ASAP to the right people.Embrace the Hate! JC

I would like to see him change his game plan & perhaps run more from dummy half, put the defence in 2 minds as to what he's going to do, but until more of his team mates help out & share the load in defence, i'm glad for every minute he plays...
Fact is Jake's 2 penal was the most of the night along with JWH and he was also most penalised player last year with 16 in total (http://www.nrl.com/stats-insider-who...1/default.aspx)

He is simply not fit enough to play 80 mins, and given the amount of weight he has dropped over the off season to still put in a performance like thursday night I'd say he never will be.
He should only play 50-60 mins per game. Do that, and he'll improve immensely as he won't be running about completely spent for the last 10 mins of each half. Unfortunately it seems this club is determined to make him something he is not and both he and the team are suffering for it.
