  • Has Maloney been taught how to do a drop out?

Was at the game on Thursday. Maloneys few attempts at drop outs were woefull. The ball literally rolled out to the 20m line! Coach needs to teach him a thing or two!

In the foundation cup he had one that travelled 70m ! Hope Thursday was just a one off....

you didn't see the foundation cup obviously, where he was nailing them. One went nearly 80m from memory

Well foundation cup is just a trial game disguise as a competition game. No one cares. Those attempts on Thursday were woeful. Next time give the opposition the ball at the 20m if he's going to kick that bad.

The question was - has he been taught.

Yes he has and he proved it in the trials...

Do people on this website actually watch games before criticizing our players?

better than going out on the full

He was kicking in to a fairly strong wind in the first half on Thursday

I thought Maloney's poor dropouts against Souths were a sign of being nervous in his first game at his new club. I take this nervousness as a good thing. It means he cares.

His dropouts in the trials were awesome.

BTW - his first kick at goal was also pretty bad. He would normally make that easily. I really just think he was nervous and he will only get better. Maloney is class.

very much a confidence thing with dropouts

if you hit the first one sweetly you're likely to hit subsequent ones sweetly, but if you start bad that can continue

Do players that are regular kickers in first grade need teaching?

I would have thought it's just practice, and more practice.

Goal kicking is a different story.

Nope, it's not something the club would look at when recruiting a 5/8. After all we re-sign fullbacks that can't run.

                              Chook.
